Nepotism, Racism, Sexism, Favortism, you can see it all on any given day in GOM. Not only tolerated, but encouraged and laughed at by the good ole boys running the show. Sad state of affairs for a once proud BU in a once proud company.

I have not seen the nepotism and "i'll wash your back if you wash mine" ethics at any other publicly-held corporation. Even Walmart low-wage jobs require applicants to name relatives.
I have worked in some of the other BU's and they are all about the same with regards to Nepotism, Racism, Sexism, and Favoritism. In fact it is also the same in the outside consulting firms, although some are worse than others. And also the same in service companies, vendors and other industries and professions (insurance companies, retail, etc. etc. etc.). New to the job market and working in a professional capacity? I suggest you just focus on your own work, disregard the perceived unprofessional actions of others, don't be party to it and you will be fine! Worked out well for me.
who is the good ole boys? @GOMBU
I started in the GOM and have worked all over the world in many business units. It is not a bad place to work most of the time. Do your job and everything else will be fine.
The GOM is not much worse than the offices of San Ramon or Houston in regard to nepotism, sexism, age and the good old boy and gal management system.
Sad state of affairs for GOMBU. Supposedly this BU is the cash arm for Chevron in the United States.
Wholeheartedly agree. After working in other business units for Chevron, I could not believe I was at the same company when I moved to GOM. The BU is a total disgrace.
