So, It's been close to a year since we heard Hall was to buy Baker. I have read many articles, talked with many people and watched the stock market and most of it, not all of it, has told me that this is going to happen. But my gut feeling is telling me that it will not. I'm not sure why I am posting this. I just see this as a mistake. I have tried in the past year to see something good from this but I just don't see it. I have not heard anyone say anything good about this and by anyone I mean the actual people who do the work in these 2 companies.

If the deal does go ahead it will indicate with certainty that Halliburton's leadership team is as incompetent as Baker's. BHI is trading at four times its true value, a very large percentage of BHI's experienced employees have been laid off, customers have shelved high value projects, and the portion of employees who do not generate revenue has increased exponentially. Halliburton should be asking themselves what exactly they are going to be paying a premium price for at the end of the day. The gap between the agreed upon price of $78 per share and the steadily declining BHI stock price is gets wider everyday. Schlumberger must be wringing their hands in anticipation of capturing even more market share next year. Customers will not be inclined to award contracts to a conglomerate that is unable to perform. SLB is still the safe-bet and for the customer it is all about risk-reduction.. BHI/HAL will be a risky proposition for the next 3 years.. The only reason for it going ahead is that the personal financial incentives for it going ahead, even if it fails, is just too great an opportunity to pass up.
Mess.... you right on the money.
Merger finalized in Q1-2016. Man your living in a dream world. There will be no merger! Only pain and suffering for the people but mostly stock holders and CeO's. People on both sides of color. ( RED and BLUE ) all of you need to just wake up and stop being sheep. Our future with anyone of these companies is over! They are over. I was still hanging on to hope just like you. At least 50% + more with BHI will be laid of before November and same with HALL. As i stated before in the past in here is that you will be looking at a work force combined total of about 28k to 38k people. Work will pick back up soon but these 2 companies will not recover to the state it as once in. It will be like starting over for them. I know some egg head will have something to say about this. It's ok. I was once a dreamer and clinging on to hope the the little security
blanket just as you. All i can say from here is very very soon you will see the news and it will tell you very similar
things as i am telling you. Wake up people.. We are just numbers. Please don't think you are any more than that because sorry your not. We don't matter.
Yah, and a comet will hit the earth last week.
Thanks for clearing that up for us. Nobody knows squat, but so many know the future.
The merger will be finalized in Q1 2016.
It is a total mess... Both companies are just totally screwed up and sticking in deep in the employees a$$ ! Both sides. Both sides deserve to sink for doing what they did to their people and when its all said and done the only reason they are trying to team up is to save their own a$$ from going bankrupt.
In the end both Baker and halliburton will both self destruct.
It's not good for the people who do the work. Only good for suit and tie plp...oh and pant suit women.
