Is it a good idea at this time to move to Sperry or DBS? Assuming both managers give approval....
i heard that HAL won't touch people moving to Sperry or DBS as these two units will eventually be sold...
Any opinions?

Final Big are not even in for the divestitures yet. Halliburton can do what it wishes with security and sperry. There are still rumors that the sale and merger will not go through with that being said it would only make sense that Halliburton cut cut and cut some more after all once you've proclaimed from the mountaintops that a business is worth selling and then turn tail and wanted back how effective do you think getting new business will be? Furthermore the company doesn't want to pay severance is after it pays billions of dollars to acquire the company the company should be in a position to be profitable at purchase. There are many dynamics at work we can all just sit back and enjoy the show
not so fast please mr. emarati illuminati, i think this is a good question worthy of more consideration. it is reasonable. the layoffs of which you speak were "in the past" so to speak, money had to be saved and costs cut. the downturn provided an opportunity to do all that, save money, trim and RE-ORG an old, inefficient operation. But now that's been done, going forward with a deal rumored to close by year's end, how much deeper do you think they will cut to a business unit they are ridding themselves of anyway. let the buyer to be known later do it. i'm not enlightened in any way, i have the same concerns the original post did.
You are wrong. A lot of Sperry people were layoff after the last announce. But if you are field hand and in a "operative district" you could be safe.
