SJVBU looks the strongest

Least affected by layoffs. So far only 56. Business looks strong. Opinion?

And it's the longtime Bako folks with the wrong reservoir management paradigms. They'll stick around and keep beating the head horse.

There are two types of people in SJV. Those who have been long timers having made Bako their longtime home, and those that are passing through. For those that are passing through, all it matters is they survive 2 or 3 years.. No need to be part of any cliques or whatever. Just mark your time and move on. It is a base business BU, where every Chevroid is like one of those pumpjacks going through the motions. But in these hard timers, may be the first to get axed.

Nope SJV was my home for 2.5 yrs...didn't even get a chance in the new regime! They have their clicks...! Learn to play the game and I guess you'll be good....I think!

Chevron is bleeding cash, and layoffs will only save the company so much. In addition to employees, which projects will have to go?

Chevron is bleeding cash. Every BU will have to layoff 25% or more.

Don't believe all what you hear and what you see in the news! There was total of 200 let go at SJVBU, I was one of the 199 let go with 2yrs under my belt and came on board within the interim part of the PMP process. I was to new to rank and still got a 2 the previous year, the CVX inter circle chooses who is on that RAE process!!!! The writing is on the wall people.

Very sad,... really. I spent some happy years in "Boss Bakes", out in the Cymric District. Good folks, and our Manager (Tom Harrison) was aces. Though frequently ridiculed (always a few idiots) and considered a Hard Ass (which got results), he knew how to manage a production operation and I always considered him the primary reason we (Cymric) were able to weather THAT cutback. In today's Chevron, I'm not sure how a guy like him would be treated by his "peers" (he was a "doer" vs a "smoother"), but I'll always look back with thanks for having had the privilege of working with him, back in the early 90's. My best wishes to all in SJVBU.

It is confusing in Chevron because 1. No one informs people of the intent. 2. I am not sure if leaders themselves fully understand the intent. The are two main layoffs. One that we just had at SVJBU was the RAE and it was based on poor performance. Not solely performance but mainly. If you had less than 2 PMP ranks the last 3 years you were eligible for RAE. And in fact we/SJVBU took the biggest hit on this layoff. Now a ROM or reorganization is being planned for us late winter early spring, where it actually looks worse than the rest of Chevron. Most BU's the number floated is 20%. The numbers that are floated here are "above 25%"! We will be getting communication on the reorganization which Chevron calls ROM. I have no insight to what the org charts will look like but there will be 25% less boxes. Also, somehow in Chevrons mind, the RAE let goes won't even count???? For example I absorb another persons function that I should not have absorbed because I don't know squat about it. But now there is only one box left. No intention to fill the RAE employees box's because the reorg is supposed to better align resources. Of course it won't!
