Prior to finding this site, I had no clue what a fiasco I had gotten myself into. Working on an MCP, I could not figure out why working 16 plus hours a day did nothing but create more work, questions and uncertainty around solutions I had been delivering to MCP's for 15 years as a contractor. If I had only known, I would have put my 10 hours a day in, came home to my family and let the chips fall where they may. Still can't believe I let this company use me as a whipping board as long as I did. In all my years at Chevron, the last 2 did nothing but age me, prove to me to never trust anyone above or parallel to me, and realize that the teamwork it takes to execute a major project is nowhere to be found in HOU Corporate. Every man for himself. We Lead Mentoring to the edge of the cliff, then nudge you over to save our own soul. Toxic does not even begin to cover it. I feel for the resources left to deal with managers who have absolutely no idea what it takes to get the job done.

Oh Christ the crazy safety bitch for MCP. Now anyone who knows her understands this to be one of a million examples. Hello, I was referred to you by the HES specialist who is on the call with me. I have a question on isolating energy. She asks right out of the gate "Do you have room?" I ask room for what? She says "room to isolate the energy as space can be tight"????? Chevron HES people suck suck suck. Young kids that have never used a Cresent wrench or hammer. Have you met any competent HES pro's? How don't you understand the concept of LOGO and try and become the HES manager?
Worked on MCP for over 10 years. I know part of your pain. I was let go after the JSM project. Just heard all of JSM2 HES just got let go..all employees. The woman in charge of HES MCP has no idea what she's doing. She's on a power trip to put her favorites in positions they have no business being placed in.
I do wish all those I know and care about the best of luck. Especially those still there.
You should have tried working in GOM. Talk about toxic. If you aren't from southern Lousiana, its the gas chamber for you.
A culture of blame, hypocrisy and petty children.
Same boat, left 6 months ago and am on a domestic gas power plant. Toxic is being kind for Chevrons culture. But don't be jaded at your new place of employment. Once you start and see the team come together, competent leaders, execution of work getting done.....it is like riding a bike! I knew you can not run a business like Chevron. It is now very easy to see as nothing on the MCP is even close to right let alone excellent.
