Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

GOM Re-Org

So we are supposedly cutting 20% but the new organization is not coming out until September meaning we most likely won't be able to participate in the first ROM. Won't that hurt our chances?

What everyone else has said plus one addition. Since the GOM ROM isn't until January-ish, there's a small chance that people left standing could apply in the spring PDCs, if they are held. Of course though it isn't likely that there would be many positions open in the spring since so many fall ROMs are happening but you never know. There's always Downstream!

Everyone is applying for the jobs on the new org chart. Even if your box still exists you have to reapply for it, and against those people whose boxes have disappeared, so competition will be fierce.

And of course the bottom line is, those people whose box is gone, and don't get a new job, you are left standing, aka laid off. Don't bet on getting access to any other business units leftover jobs from other ROMs. Those will all be filled by the people in that BU whose boxes are gone. Your best shot at a transfer would be if another BU ROM is happening at the same time yours is.

The way it is being done at CBU is this. Everyone applies for jobs. If your current position still has a box on the new org chart then you are automatically nominated for that position. You then can select 3 other positions to apply for. If your position is not on the org chart then you just have the 3 positions to apply for. Anyone can apply for any position in their ROM grouping, within 2 PSGs of current level. It may be different in other BUs. Though CBU basically copied and pasted the AMBU process.

It's ridiculous that the process takes a couple months. The whole thing should have been able to be done in a couple weeks.

Very conflicting information, is everybody posting for a job on the new organizational chart, or just those people whose position is no longer on the organizational chart. Can they post for only open jobs that have been left available from the previous lay off.

The 1st GOMBU ROM is in Jan 2016 unless you are leadership. If you are left standing without a position, you will be laid off. There will be few if any tranfers out of the BU because there are few if any slots open elsewhere ( hence no PDC).

Yes that will hurt your chances. Project Alpha ROM spots will all be filled. You'll have a GOM ROM (hehe) probably like in November, when Alpha is done. Your best bet at leaving GOM would be if another BU is having their ROM at the same time yall are.

This is your first ROM. Chevron is so f***ed up in that they don't explain anything. It is sad you have to learn this on some layoff board from a Jujube like myself! But each ROM is specific for each BU. They will probably come up with a new name like Project skid mark, which confuses everyone. The only thing that hurts is the time as the price of oil stays below 50 the cuts will get deeper. So in short think of your BU as mutually exclusive from others and you apply within your own BU. Good luck and God bless as we all need it!
