Hot Wheels will be sold first. Wu is just a warm body, a straw man VP to flesh out the barebones crew filling the seats now. It's just busy work for those poor bastards until someone ponies up enough cash for Mattel's slow painful suicide to continue. No one cares anymore, it's really a shame. Unfortunately for Hot Wheels, it's the only saleable division Mattel has.

A British accent, speaking in cliches while saying absolutely nothing/riding a road bike goes a long way at Mattel. Bring back super arrogant Simon Waldron who got sacked from SpinMaster several months ago, after getting fired from Mattel, ( we won't mention why ), bring back Felix who became VP extremely quickly because not only did he have a British accent but also played bass in the Toyz Band, & bring back Parsey so CD can hang out with him again. Bring them all back, Mattel is the Titanic just rearranging the deck chairs while the unsinkable sinks. The Toyz can play Brown Eyed Girl one last time........
Correction - Parsley didn't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars. He spent half a million dollars on the logo redesign and a font that was unreadable. There's a reason Motorola and Apple got rid of him.
MegaBrands should be MGA Entertainment........hey, they both start with an M :)
I say bring back Tim Parsey as GM so he spend hundreds of thousands of dollars again having the Hot Wheels logo & equity trashed/redesigned by a bunch of college kids. He & DW almost ruined Hot Wheels. What's equity????????? Tim & Chris were thick as thieves there for a while until TP got whacked. Not to worry, if you ride a 10 speed road bike & wear those Power Ranger outfits you're safe in Hot Wheels under CD. Unfortunately the train wreck continues & MegaBrands is about to relaunch it's Bratz Line this Fall which will make matters even worse for Barbie. Why did Eckert spend hundreds of millions of dollars suing MegaBrands for absolutely nothing again? Who cares? He left with his millions I & believe he's still on the board of Directors. What a scam as the rich get richer there & some people who actually try to do their jobs get laid off.
The current SVP of hot wheels had nothing to do with the original Cars pitch but he was on the product line with a strong team of designers and a few marketers for the 2006 launch product and year 2 product. Since getting infected with the lunacy of long gone Tim Parsley, it's been Downhill from there...
This isn't cyber bullies, it's cyber truth & in in this case the truth hurts because it's Mattel who has become pathetic which is exactly why this blog is still in existence. The real fact is that the new Marketing VP of Design ( just typing that doesn't even make sense ) DOESN'T know how to handle licenses........The DPCars Line was an evergreen Line for 5 years before he & Down trashed it. Just go back and look at the timeline of the last 3/4 years of the Line. Numbers don't lie. Nice job Chris & Gabe Carlson who waltzed in as a Director. Hot Wheels will crash & burn next.......... The Mattel way, fail forward to promotion. Chris Down failed to win the Disney/Pixar The Good Dino Line, it went to Tomy & they promoted him to GM. Disney/Pixar has now abandoned Mattel so just wait until Hasbro relaunches the Frozen Line with super great product that is being Designed/Developed by exMattel employees who even had to drive from the South Bay to Burbank just because they were sick of Mattel politics. Great job Chris. He didn't have a thing to do with the Original DPCars pitch but he lucked out & took credit for it. Again, the Mattel way, get lucky & steal the credit from those who actually did all the Design heavy lifting. Great job Chris, you're totally awesome. Mattel has made it's own bed, it's time to pay the piper. Sleep tight Mattel.
face facts: marketing over design = FAIL
cyber bullies! this is pathetic
What the HELL Down?!?
What were you thinking?????
your new vp of design doesn't know the foggiest about design...
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Add the VP of Marketing of Hot Wheels who has never done anything but grow up at Mattel and you've got a winning team. How sad. Do you think they know they hired a VP of Design that only knows how to manage licenses? I guess that's okay. That's the only people they promote. Not the ones who actually know how to make good toys.
Straw man indeed.
Would be no use to Design
