Ha! The eclipse (VB, SL, whatever you want to call that monstrosity) coming to buffalo will be epic but I think it spells the ultimate death blow for the NYC office. It is so not needed anymore. For years the office was kept open by Neil because of our strategic placement to licensors (SW, Nick, hit, etc) and Neil being a loyal stand up guy who promised us that it would stay there. That's when working for mattel meant something and even though ultimately we were just numbers in a big machine he made you feel like a person of value. Now with the exception of a couple of designers who are always doing something silly (probably dropped on their heads at a young age), the morale here sucks. sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks sucks.
I am grateful for the eclipse leaving New York, hoping her cronies don't wind up back here on any permanent basis, and as for MZ? he's been useless for years. He's admitted openly over the years that we make crap and has yet to do anything about it but walk around with his pursed lips like he's queen of the ball.
On a side note, Tom the recruiter has been calling a lot of folks (myself included), with some good opportunities so get in touch with him if you're as disgusted as the rest of us.
How does this make any sense? Wasn't she banished to Montreal for not pulling her own weight? Then failed miserably as the MEGA Boss. If you can't handle the kiddie table why would you get to carve the turkey? Why would anyone in Buffalo even show up to work tomorrow? It would be one thing if she was pleasant to work with and popular with her co-workers. She seems to be getting even with the pretty girls from high school in every interaction.
I just don't know how anybody could say anything bad about the design VP. I mean look at alllll the innovation he's inspiring.... Errr well, I mean at least the product is fresh....or well, refreshed over and over... Hmmmm. I guess a change in "leadership" is needed there after all. The employees deserve a better leader, one who believes in their design work and fights to keep innovation rather than costing it out. He only consults a select few who blow smoke up his ass daily and talk behind his back. Go. Please MZ.
Nice to see this post back up but if the replies are any indication of future plans they're going to crate her in a piano box and ship her up to buffalo which means more bad decisions on a larger scale. pardon the pun. The plus for her is that she will be reunited with her bestir cronies and they can fail upwards together. Unless the sauntering do nothing is coming back to NY to join the hit leftovers in the NYC office permanently since buffalo pretty much despises him.
