Just heard that MSSS is training workers from Malaysia to take over their jobs in 3-4 weeks. How nice, please take your last weeks to train these people we are outsourcing your jobs to before we walk you out the door.

Minimum wage in Malaysia is the equivalent of $75 US per week for a 40 hr workweek so I don't know if I would consider that relatively well-paid. It makes it obvious why the MSSS jobs are going there though with labor costs that low.
More than likely it's to empty out NYC since so much of our mildly popular train license that was such a big "get" is produced there now. 75 years of who gives a crap and the most useless bland engine with the worst storytelling known to man.
Actually, Malaysia in my experience has a pretty stable and relatively well-paid work force. I would be mildly surprised that they would gain anything by moving the MSSS group there, unless it's to empty EA.
I dunno - the food's pretty good over there...
I would have asked for triple the pay and a fattened severance package for such a ridiculous request. Screw them
This happened to a friend of mine. Called into a meeting and told his job was going to South East Asia, he would be laid off in 9 months. In the meantime, he needed to get on a plane and go train the people and set up the systems over there. He was to stay there for the entire 9 months.
His reply was, "Let's make today my last day."
Malaysia, home to the even cheaper cost reduced toys. fantastic.
That speaks volumes about how low Mattel will go. I can't think of anything worse a corprate leader can do. I do not have a good feeling about where things are going .
Yep. Perfect so we can save a nickel only to have the time difference effect contact with them...the language barrier with contact with them... Oh but that nickel will be worth it...said nobody
