Its been four months since the mass layoff. Are individuals still being asked to leave after that event ? Is the re-org still happening as of now ?

Manager had been telling me for months I was doing great work, many excellent performance reviews. Then, boom, laid off. Past performance reviews don't matter. You can be outperforming the guy next to you, he stays and you're gone. You'll never know why. An exec from another company told me in a layoff, management can lay you off for any reason, Maybe a VP doesn't like you b/c of gender, race, age, the way you look, where you're from, etc. As long as management can make up a business justification, even if it's bogus, they feel safe picking you for lay off. Sad.
WD probably thought the consumer market would last longer. Probably could not have predicted how fast solid state storage prices would drop, or that consumers would adopt it so fast. Early on, people thought SSD wasn't reliable enough. But now anyone with a smartphone knows you don't need a hard drive on your device for storage. Mr. Murphy was great in that feel-Good WD commercial last holidays. Maybe that's the last good one though.
I think maybe WD in Irvine may disappear or become a small office. The growth is all at HGST. They have a nice campus up there and they are building their own headquarters. WD in Irvine just leases its space, could move most of its operations (whatever is left) to HGST.
This is still happening. There's a big layoff today (8/21/15) in Irvine and MV. Mid-level mgrs and employees are being let go.
Better question: Did WDC buy HGST or the other way around?
HGST didn't have the mass layoffs and is building new project teams while WDC is ..... what?
