Hopefully they rule in favor of the postal workers union that the USPS/Staples partnership violates their contract.

All of your points are very interesting. ANOTHER valid point that goes hand in hand with the above is the skewing of VIBE numbers in stores that have a very active shipping business. ROV / COMP / DPT.... On an average day we have 150 - 200 visits from folks who come in just to use shipping and mailing services.. They buy nothing else. They don't even look around...... Many of them come in 2 to 4 people per transaction... Doesn't take to many smarts to figure out why our VIBE numbers are so far off.... by I Wrote This..
I agree with you Afar. 98% of the people that come in to ship buy nothing (other than the shipping), 1% buy boxes, tape, bubblewrap. Only 1% actually shop the store.
It is a total bust. The only way R D and O will go away is if an activist shareholder starts a movement to push them out. Starboard put pressure on Ron, so of course he concedes at moves to buyout Office Depot. Whether the buyout goes through or not, they should still keep up the pressure for Ron's removal.
The USPS thing is legal and allowed because it's written into USPS operations procedure and has ALWAYS BEEN THERE! Even the ultra liberal NLRB will find it impossible to rule against this...... Now read carefully because this is what's important.... IT MAKES STAPLES NO MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and postal mail is itself a dying business. Staples thinks the extra TRAFFIC will sell more stuff. Well I can save everyone a lot of time and effort.... It will move your sales needle this much ZERO ! This is yet another bad plan instead of a real plan. Other brick and mortar retailers (some) are advancing in the face of all this internet/web based change. Staples, however will never move forward until they shed the losing upper management that can't understand the changing world around them. Catching on after the fact is not the same as insight. This means the very top exec's need to go and they won't go easily. Let me help with a few initials "R" "D" "O". Think of them as "Really Dumb Options" ...
I have not been able to find any info on how this went. The only news for NLRB for 8/17 is about the Northwestern Univ. athletes not being allowed to unionize.
Staples is running out of their own associates to screw so they have reached out to screw government employees
It would be a great boon to the copy center production. If the copy center is as important as they say, ups, and postal service should be out in a different location and any one who thought other wise should be fired.
