Unfortunately I think this will be watching good engineers getting screwed....not cool.

You can't cut HR. Who will make the badges?
Outsourcing is in the works, rest assured. Both HR and Finance will be cut in half w/in 24 months. Accenture has already proposed, it's on the back-burner for now.
Yes..but you really could outsource most of hr functionality to a third party company.
An engineer is 4 times more expensive than an average HR person, it's 20 times more valuable, nonetheless, more expensive. You really do not save much money by axing HR and Finance. They need to cut executive pay, that's what they need to do.
It is always the engineers who get laid off. They should trim non-technical departments. QC has way too much of them.
