there not their - sorry for my own poor grammar!
A lot of what I read on "I am AI"is very sad. The grammar and spelling is horrible and the mission of the group needs focus. I taught at an EDMC school for many years and the truth is even the more capable students did not want an education. They were just fine with inflated grades and did not want to work or push themselves in a manner that is needed to really be highly skilled. We had good students and their were a few talented teachers but the system supported itself in this fraud. More often than not the instructors wanted easy money and a free EDMC degree and the students wanted to be buddies with their instructors and get passed along on the government's tab. The vets were the worst. Cynical but true. Yes, corporate greed is awful but there are a lot of dirty hands in this mess.
What? This is a site for current employees to get information about upcoming lay offs. It also gives current and past employees a place to vent. Don't over think it.
This post has 7 replies, 8 with this one and one is a duplicate. there are 407 hits. It should be simple math to conclude there may be 25 or less folks looking at the responses. Every time a new reply is added it is looked at....so to the point made earlier...there is no real audience here, just we same old hacks and trolls visiting time and time again. There will be no traction or action from this site. We are like a bunch of old cronies sitting around and discussing the good old days...today's kids, in my day, the price of gas...pick a well worn topic.
I do enjoy an occasional drive by through here to see what the latest lament is.
Sadly, it is the same well worn t shirt that is comfortable from hundreds of washings, provides some comfort, but no protection.
CK. Take heart. You have a way with words and comic relief is just another approach to get to the truth. Speak to the tangible, they can't refute that.
CK...you are correct...you have been more than an armchair activist, are a google and paste activist. You have been able to make ZERO impact other than comic relief on this site.

@AmericanDread, let me know what you are doing, even if it has to be anonymously. Believe me, I have not been merely "an armchair activist."
I intended no disrespect. I'm simply trying to draw attention to the fact that social media mostly serves to make people feel as if they are participating when in reality they have no skin in the game. The very definition of false consciousness. Unlike you, I've had steady face to face contact with hundreds of students affected by this. I have been to I am AI, but it's not enough. Facebook is nice for disseminating information, but it provides little in the way of practical solutions. I'm more than a sympathetic supporter, I'm pissed off! I don't know you, but I've followed your activity on this site. You are an avid supporter of student rights and I commend you for that. But do not forget that you are a spectator here. There is real harm being done and we don't need armchair activists distracting us from the hard work ahead.
@TheAmericanDread, apparently you didn't bother to look at the Facebook. It is being used to organize a collective "defense of repayment" action like Corinthian Colleges. and yes. It does sound like you are blaming the victims. More sympathetic supporters are needed.

Joining a Facebook page accomplishes nothing. Real change won't come from liking articles and retweeting empty phrases. It takes work, which happens in the real world. Not to blame the victims, but if these kids and their parents looked up from their phones every once in a while they might have seen this coming.
