Anyone hear anything?

Sadly there isn't much left in NYC anymore. Most of us are looking into other fields if we can't move our families.
We should start a list of resources and companies to apply to.
Look for heavy turnover in the very near future, who's interviewing around right now is one of the worst kept secrets there is.
another one bites the dust....
As a person who worked in the ny office before heading out west I can say wholeheartedly that everything posted about the ny office is spot on. From the top down there's nothing but dysfunction and the people who get praise are either spending their time filling the candy jars in the kitchen to make the resident fatty happy or on their knees in a storage room currying favor with the higher ups. everything from the product to the package coming out of that office is sub par crap. No innovation and no one with the balls to try and push the envelope. The ones that did have the stones to speak up and have a progressive attitude that didn't conform were pushed out because they couldn't curry favor with the west coast assholes who spent more time bad mouthing them then embracing change.
Everything posted about design is so true. How She continues to survive tells you everything you need to know about the office.
Naming names gets posts deleted, but it's not hard to figure out if you're in the NYC office. Glaringly obvious who's who. It's trying to find the folks that aren't useless in that revamped cesspool that's the challenge.
I wish you would name names. I have no idea who you are talking about.
Let's be honest here. The NYC office has be rife with political nonsense and inefficient department heads for years. You have a female design head who is politically incorrect at every turn, and cannot work with women on her team. Every woman that has worked under her has been miserable, transferred or put on the PIP and fired. God forbid you're not in design and you have a design idea, she'll either take an ambulance inducing panic attack or be completely dismissive of you. Never has an attitude that we're all in it for the common good. Just wants to protect her own over inflated undeserved ego.
Then there's the mush mouths in packaging. Who's overly defensive at every turn, who doesn't speak up, and the constant head butting and babbling responses from the structural engineers. Don't get me started on the kid that is so obviously doing something inappropriate with one of the higher ups.
Our design staff keeps churning out the same lack of vision cost reduced crap year after year and yet their porn-stache VP doesn't get held accountable.
Marketing? The absolute worst. A bunch of parentless twenty nothings who seem to think they "know" what moms want or think based on mom talks and useless metrics. Absolutely ridiculous and yet NEVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR FAILURE.
The marketing director's design counterpart is no better - how this person has gotten to where they are based on their mutual failings on shelf is testament to what is most dysfunctional about the NYC office and - Mattel as a whole. This place needs a lifeline stat!
My marketing director is NYC is such a know it all B*@ch who cannot string a sentence together without sounding like a mush mouthed moron. How she's stayed employeed with her string of marketing failures is beyond anyone's understanding. I just applied at Hasbro and will jump at the lowest offer just to get the hell out of here.
So true. The vote of no confidence in the NYC office leadership is absolutely staggering. Anyone who has never worked here just could not comprehend how fantastic of a work environment this used to be. This place is a beautifully renovated space of dysfunction and low morale. We have lost so many great passionate people due to political BS that it sickens me to my core. Hoping to be out of here in the next month as well.
NYC may not need to cut as many since so many have left on their own for greener pastures. Just this past month we've lost a few key people.....
Supposedly NYC is going to have a culling this week. Doubt that any of the deadwood (also know as marketing) will be affected.
Ea had some last week as well.
Layoffs have been happening sporadically on the ES campus for a few weeks now. A person or two here or there. Our team lost another one yesterday.
I heard about people that were laid off today. Seems like a round tight before earnings call tomorrow. Harsh
