Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Yes the process is even in place in Tier 3 stores.

Staples eliminated Operations Managers in all stores below 6 million in sales volume. Created Team Supervisor and part time Team Supervisor positions to fill the void. Then deleted Part Time Supervisor position. Then changed FT Team Supervisor position to Operations Supervisor with the same job description as the old Operations Manager position. Salary about 10K a year less. Smart financial move on their part. But bad employee expectation as well. Many tenured loyal hourly associates were forced to accept this position with greater responsibility and no increase in pay or loose their positions. This includes the addition of Inventory Control Analysts and Easy Tech Experts as Key Holders and MOD, Managers on Duty...... With NO increase in pay. Now we are being held accountable to higher expectations while being paid at a lower rate than a comparable managers position. I for one am loosing patience and confidence in Staples. I feel I am being used for everything they can get out of me and are soon going to replace me with someone for even less money. The process has all ready started as I have on bogus write up under my belt as of 24 hours ago. I predicted 6 months ago that as I approached my 15 year anniversary that wheels would be set in motion to create my exit scenario. Guess what ? The wheels are turning........

"my unemployment was denied"

Appeal the decision. I know 7 people that were fired for questionable reasons and Staples tried to deny unemployment. They appealed and won.

For years they never denied unemployment for those fired for even flagrant violations like theft and drinking on the job. Now they purposely oust people for just because they "make to much" and try to rake them over the coals on unemployment too. More $$ for Ron's bonus.

Your just now starting to lose confidence in Staples??? This is all by design... Don't you think that these plans have been in the works for a while? If you are still working for those ass holes in Framingham joke is on you at this point.

Same deal here... I was only with Staples for 8 years, but I have been through may positions and stores from a cashier to a manager. I was let go a few months ago on some technicality bullshit and surprise, my unemployment was denied... Word from the wise... shine up your resume and get looking. This ship is sinking fast.

They have a set $$ amount per position (and cost of living in the region). If you are above that they will start the wheels turning to get rid of you, regardless of performance.

You are correct that's the way staples treats the tenured employees. They can get somebody to do your job for less and they will. Same thing happened with me and many other employees that have been with the company over ten years. It's time for you to go either on your terms or theirs. Over 90% of my store is now part time. The part timers really don't care they only work 24 hours a week. In the small amount of full timers I'm working in South to sickness, aggravation, stress complain everyday because they are overworked and underpaid. Just look at their faces. Big stress mess...I feel bad. They are good people.
