Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Serious Business

Does anyone have any serious information or feedback about the state of EDMCs financials, stock, or impact if GE? I understand the need to look for a new job, but that takes time. Realistic for EDMC to make huge cuts or close before August?

Even KKR probably think it would get this bad. At some point you have to say, the food has spoiled and push it away. EDMC is like a jar of spoiled mayonnaise with green and black hairy mold growing all over it. You are pretending they will just keep eating hoping it will get better before they fill up their bellies. Sometimes it better to go hungry. They will dump it before they get all their money back.

Okay--once again--they will not just close! How would KKR recoup their investment? Gainful Employment may hurt them in the future but even that will take time. For sure, there will be additional layoffs in the future (even August possibly) but they will not just close everything down....

And for all you "stock watchers", they don't bankrupt b/c the stock is in the tank--it is in the tank b/c KKR now owns 96% of the company outright--that's right--public shareholders only own 4% of the stock.

Move on. Spend your time polishing your resume and applying for jobs rather than bashing EDMC online.

Heck if the school stays open for the July start I'll call it a win. That's about as serious about this job as I can get these days.
