Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

The writings in the stars.

For all of you interviewing Monday/Tuesday, I heard that it will all be behavior interviewing and that there would be two managers/ interview. It's going to be so weird seeing everyone dressed up, but at the end of the day these interviews are pointless because they have already decided who they are keeping, so please don't stress yourself out over this week. Start working on your resume and applying to other jobs.

By the way, probably should not trust what your friends in administration are saying. I had to let a very good employee go during one round of EDMC layoffs, and was assured by top (high ranking, national) management that they would find him another job, don't worry. Well, the same afternoon, after he was laid off, guess what I found out? They knew all along that there would not be another position for him.

Argosy management cannot mold anyone since they have yet to EARN their right to be LEADERS. Their challenge should be to not allow this kind of crap to happen ever again. Unfortunately, they are so concerned about their internal numbers and micromanaging what they deem as untrustworthy staff, that they do not see the semi-truck about to smack them in the rear....That would be Gainful Employment. There has been zero strategy for this legislature except to hope that the corporate office (many of whom were released last week) will bail them out. Oh by the way, do not forget about the 11 billion in lawsuits EDMC is facing. If you read this post and currently work for EDMC...you have more than a few layoffs and astonishingly poor and uneducated management to worry about.

I agree. They have been working on this for 5 months, so they have definitely figured out who they wanted because I know I heard over three months ago that we would all have to reapply for our positions, and look here we are doing just that! So I'm sure during those months they were also comprising a list of individuals that they were going to keep and who they were going to get rid of. What is disgusting to me is that they were still hiring ARs when they knew they were going to do all these layoffs. Horrible, just plain horrible. I also know that there will be a training class in August. So much for a company respecting it's employees. Good Luck Everyone.

I wouldn't say or limit to strong ARs because I do believe they are going to get rid of ARs with top pay and some of those are top ARs but they can easily be replaced w/ 2-3 ARs with how much they make so from a business standpoint, it doesn't look so good.

That is what everyone is saying that they already know and what are they basing their made up decision on? Strong ARs or the new people they can mold?
