Layoffs haven't really officially hit AUO until July1 and 2, when we are told whether or not we have a position or not. The thing that baffles me is why we couldn't get a straight answer as to how many people were going to be laid off or how many positions would be available. We are all smart here, let's do the math! You know how many Admissions Representatives, Academic Counselors, Re-entry Admissions, Student Success Advisors, Managers, and Directors there are on the floor. Now know that there are only going to be two Campus Directors, eleven teams with the restructure, eleven Academic Coordinators, eleven Managers, and ten to twelve Success Advisors per team. It's simple math. If they do make it to only ten Success Advisors per team that's an additional twenty-two people without a position.
So when you go tomorrow inquire about how many teams are on the floor and start doing your math. It's important to really prepare and educate yourself. Sometimes numbers may not be given out but doesn't mean you can't get a generalized idea of what that number may be. Don't forget to include excess managers and campus directors in your numbers.
Chances are the two campus directors are going to take two management positions only leaving nine manager positions left with what thirteen managers across the floor now? With means if that number is right (it may be thirteen I'm not sure) there could be four managers who are going to take success advisor or academic coordinator roles. If there are two academic counselors per team and there are what ten teams that have two of those (once again not sure on that part)? That's twenty Academic Counselors automatically signed up for the academic coordinator role interview, but what if they apply to both?!? Regardless there are already two academic coordinators which means there are only nine positions available if there are only eleven teams.
I'm not saying these numbers are entirely accurate but I did hear eleven teams, but we will know for sure when managers are announced! Plus Gavlik told us one academic coordinator per team and ten to twelve success advisors, so that's straight from the "horses mouth".
