Dear friends, this is George Orwell speaking to you from the grave. I want you to know that McEachen's missive has been well documented in totaltarian as well as fascist literature as it uses a communications technique known as "Newspeak". What he has to say had no

reference in reality or the published facts.

In relation to reality his ramblings are a

function of magical thinking. This approach is indicatve of indiviguals or organizations under extreme duress. The metrics simply are just not there to support his grandiose assertions. We have heard this all before. The annals of business are replete with examples of executives not minding the store so to speak, not being proactive and unfortunately turning what may have been an opportunity to do well (as in make money) and do good (as in educating folks) into a dubious experiment that is slowly but apparently coming to its inevitable

conclusion.

My instinct is that Mick Beekhuizen will take over. He's a Goldman Sachs plant and will probably oversee the disassembly and sale of the brands to get their money back.

He's done all he could to run the company into the ground. He's been able to take us to the brink of bankruptcy, contributed to the unemployment rate by laying people off and closing campuses, and now it's time for him to take his millions and ride off into the sunset while the rest of us are left to figure out how we're going to feed our families! Hope he gets what's coming to him someday!

I am reminded of the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia disaster where the captain managed to wreck the ship by steering too close to shore and then abandoned ship with passengers still on board.

===============

Dear Employees,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we write to let you know that President and CEO Edward H. West has resigned to pursue other interests. He will be leaving at the end of this month. We are very grateful for Ed’s nine years of service to EDMC.

During his three-year tenure as CEO, Ed worked to create an organization better positioned to provide educational value for our students – focusing on in-demand programs with solid outcomes and job prospects, while lowering the cost of education. In addition, as CEO Ed helped to transform the leadership team in the face of numerous regulatory changes that impacted all of higher education.

We will miss Ed, and we thank him for his leadership and wish him well in the future.

The Board has established an Office of the Chairman to act in place of the CEO until the new CEO is selected. The Office will be comprised of Board Chair Mark McEachen, Board member Kermit Cook, CFO Mick Beekhuizen, General Counsel Devitt Kramer and Senior Vice President of Human Resources Mark Novad, all of whom share a passion for our mission. The Board will lead the search process for a new CEO and is committed to finding a new CEO who shares EDMC’s commitment to a first-class educational experience. This transition will not impact the academic activities of EDMC’s institutions, as each education system has its own highly qualified President or Chancellor responsible for the academic life of their institutions.

On behalf of the Board, we want to thank you for your continued hard work to help EDMC to succeed. While 2015 has been a year of transition, you have helped us rebuild a solid foundation and create a stronger organization that is better positioned to meet the commitment we have made to our students.

We extend our appreciation to you for your efforts to provide students with an affordable, high-quality education.

Sincerely,

Mark McEachen

Chairman, on Behalf of the Board of Directors

Just read the biz journal thing. Talk about putting lipstick on a pig. By any yardstick of success, whether shaded by liberal or conservative values, this indivigual was pathetic. It was telling that the staff was told about his pending departure a week ago and only now has it hit the layoff.

Finally! Good Riddance...Wish he'd take his board and incompetent directors of admissions with him. 9 years of defrauding students and mistreating employees is enough. He's like Todd Nelson. He will lay low for a few years and pop up as the CEO of another zombie for profit.
