There are several useless positions in the store. PTS (product training specialist) for starters. Really, what a waste of 40 hours. Price change team. 90% of any price changes and/or ads are done by the dept leads anyways. Then we have a space planner. Why? Just leave the dept manager and their leads and core people do it. I'm sure there are more, but those are always the ones that come to mind. I can only imagine the useless positions in the bigger stores.

Yea ok. We set the pog only to change it right after its marked as done. Corp sends the pog's to the planner in which they print and give to the depts. The depts put the stuff in place. The planner is just a middle man. Or might just be my store, if so, I apologize to you....your clearly your stores planner.
Space planning can and should be managed from a regional perspective if not at corporate, this would save cash and make the process more effective.
Space Planners useless - REALLY? For your edification, the space planners in the stores are very critical to the stores success. Every Space Planner has a wealth of knowledge that even department managers don't. For instance, the planners hold the keys to a little program called Space Planning, and are the only ones in the entire store capable of accessing the database. This access an the associated training that goes along with it, enables the stores to adjust POGs, so that small insignificant things, like replen happen accurately and efficiently, as well as accurate financial data can be gathered. Useless indeed.............what a moron.
They should cut the dead weight at Corporate. Of the thousands that work there, I'm sure they can save a few million bucks and put staff back on the sales floor so customers don't have to walk out made that no one is there to help them.
