Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Who are the real loosers?

Wake up people, you didn't do your jobs. Poor performance and bad attitudes finally caught up with you. You poor idiots can't run to another business unit or keep your job as a must hire. You desrve what you get and if I were Chevron I would forfeit any future pay for all those Facebook hours on company time. You got what you deserve. They finally canned your sorry ass. And by the way, Jesus, Muhammad, and Buddha are laughing at you.

Wow. So much hatred flying around at Chevron toward one another. Everybody hates everyone and everything. If Chevron has made you feel this angry and hateful because it is such a toxic place, then why don't you ask yourself if maybe the situation you are in and the company you are working for is not for you and get out of there. Life is too short and too beautiful to be so angry and miserable.

133357, if you want to be the grammar & spelling police you should learn the proper spelling and usage of the word GRAMMAR. You weren't in fact even trying to correct GRAMMAR (see how to spell it now?), you were trying to correct the SPELLING of the word "loser". Whose ignorance is showing now?

You people laughing at those being let go work on Gorgon, Wheatstone, China gas project, Angola, Bigfoot, AMBU, Pro+? Did you stick your nose in the air with pride at the 2nd quarter financial results?

Is that the stellar performance you are so proud of across the org?

Not sure you have much to be proud of in CVX right now - certainly not to be making posts like that.

You guys know what the big elephant in the room is? Anyone who's been here a while costs a lot not because of their salary or their lack of productivity, but the pension alone. If a company in Austin or Palo Alto wants to hire 6000 people and pay them all $150k, they can do that and just tack on occupancy and healthcare and free food and whatever else. If Chevron wants to have someone making that who's been with the company since before 2008, and most of those have also been since the 80s, then they also need to make provisions for pension. That can add up to $100K a year or more for a PSG 22. It's hard to compete in that environment. Many people under 40 in Bay Area are quitting, not because they think Chevron is a sinking ship, but because they aren't being paid competitively anymore and there's no room for growth and no new jobs.

Thank you to those who understand and agree that black people have a lot to do with how unfair is the company. They think their untouchable and therefore can do anything they want. You could never talk to them back or confront them in their behavior because they go straight to HR and make claims about harassment. Many of the post below are true. Candy Crush stays and the 70hr /week worker gets canned. Simply because those playing candy crush network a lot and other blacks will back them up. Meanwhile the educated hardworking does nothing but his job, duties, and actually follows the tenets of operations. That person is going out. To have a fair ROM, a technical test and general knowledge test should be given. I've exchanged emails with people who can't write at all. It's like goggle translator.

Chevron is going to feel like it's been taking Insight when the ROMs and RAEs start. Bend over!

Tacky? I think Insight is brilliant, or plain lucky. Those ads put an ironic smile on my face, which has lately been looking rather grim !

O.K. Has anyone asked you about your GO-400. Interviewed you about your past accomplishments, education, experience. How you contributed to the company. No one gets it. That's what should be happening now. I came over from Exxon and when there was a layoff in 2008 they were fair as fair can get. When I came to Chevron in 2011 it was broke then......the oil price is just exacerbating the existing rot. But really most supervisors jump around so much they have no deep understanding of abilities. This is why this ROM is broke.....I was waiting for the process to begin and it's already over.....

Don't be a jerk or act naive, 133227. The honest people people here know it's a fact that AA pervades the system.

... because of Affirmative Action, under the guise of Equal Employment Oppirtunity. That's why. Now I'm not lumping all the blacks together because we have some excellent workers who are black. But, everyone knows we have a good percentage who skate because they think they are untouchable.

Wait and see how this Rom RAE goes.....do you really think the hard working competent people get to stay? That's the whole problem They don't. Watch.....u will see! It is crazy the decisions that will be made. The boxes are filled in and not one look at prior job experience or education. It is again political appointments. You will be left scratching your head. Candy Crush stays and 70 hour productive Georgia Tech guy gets canned, because he was to busy working and not sucking ass.

If and ONLY IF what you are saying is true then why is Chevron keeping the black people who are worthless and only abuse company benefits? Believe me Chevron is not being fair.

I am also tired of hearing people whine and placating their problems on everyone else. Oil prices are in the bucket...easy to blame management but the problems are bigger. Sorry if you don't have savings and have a house note more than you can afford, but that isn't management's problem. You over extended yourself, take control of your own destiny. If you yourself was management material they would have made you management. Easy to blame others for your own problems rather than accept personal responsibility.

Unless if you're on one of these MCPs then it's business as usual with no consequence or accountability for continued bone headed financial decisions (or surfing FB). Gotta attain that ellusive schedule target no matter what!

Very true statement for the most part. There is way to much Facebook, angry bird and candy crush going on. Some of my team mates stay on Facebook all day at work.

I think there is a lot of heart burn because it's not the bottom 10% of employees like you usually hear but the numbers that are floating around are more in line with the 20% to 25% numbers. At that level you will lose some good people but until the layoffs happen and we get to a stable commodity price no one will know the numbers of effected people because the companies don't even know.

I agree. Everyone that I know who was in the cut deserved it. Chevron was too nice to keep incompetent people and now the rubber hits the road. Quit complaining and do your jobs. Chevron owes you nothing. They are paying you to do a job.
