Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron, the fiasco that is - repost

The root cause of the fiasco that is Chevron is the piss poor management. The management has created this Chevron Way, the right way culture, of behavior based (be nice, avoid confrontation or present disagreement the "right way") bullshit. Build a clique of friends John's answer: "No, Darling we will never leave California. Remember our history - Standard Oil of CA.... yadda, yadda, yadda". Yea, yea, there are oil wells in Bakersf-ingfield and they will stay there. Look around the San Ramon campus and you see more truth than all that nice gibberish. You Chevroids really love your kool-aid. Looking up facts, acting on them and getting results... well. well, that's a nudder story.

I had to do an MOC to get a microwave in a lab. Not kidding. That's what the rules currently say so we had to do it.

Article from March 2013 Forbes. Googled just Chevron to see what would come up. Explains a lot, how both upper management (where was the BOD?) were making decisions not being followed by other big players and how big time investors were buying it, pun intended.

The Chevron Way, Tenets of Operation, Operational Excellence Management System... all these things are well-written and meant to be so good. Sad to say they became nothing but slogans. We all know the titles, but don't know anything of what they contain and mean. I'm not knocking anyone. It's this way because we all have jobs to do and not enough time to exhibit all these things at the same time. If the company would only stick to one or two very basic principle, perhaps each employee would embrace it's concept every day. Something to consider doing in the "new" Chevron (after this mess settles down).

Is there any wonder that virtually ZERO Texaco folks are left in CVX ? Ask a hard / non-consensus question and people look at you like you're a leper. Try to get a decision without going through a ChipDip study and people think that you are compulsive and a non-team player.

Seems like the "Chevron way" mostly involves kissing the right a$$es, having the right friends, and never, ever disagreeing with anyone. Plus a splash of incompetence and backstabbing.
