Unhappiest place to work under Bella: IT-Security. Top Three unhappiest things in IT: Pay, Workload and Leadership. Bella and Vin's 2nd Survey. Nothing got better. Bad Pay feelings got worse. Looks like RJ is not making the top 100 places to work in 2015.

Todd lost his golden boy. JW just quit. Todd loses them faster than he can keep them, but I guess if you are the very poorest rated department in IT, why would anyone want to stay.
Not all of them suck. I agree most do suck and are a pain in the ass, but a few are ok.
Name a single manager in IT security that is worth a barrel of warm piss. Trick question! There isn't one. Even the ones not specifically named on here still suck.
There is a long history of dysfunction in the RJ IT-Security group. It goes back at least several CISO's and is a fairly well known laughing stock locally in the industry...
Andy Zolper is very cut throat. It is Andy Zolper first and then his people 12th. It is all about his image. I do not trust him at all. I think his numbers say the same about what people think.
Has anybody thats been let go been on a PIP? I think not. He's a little cut throat bitch.
It is hard to believe Todd is a VP. He has no where near the skill base to be a VP at RJ. Zero people skills for starters.
If Andy is such a great leader, why is his ratings last by his people? If you say Todd, a great leader works to fix problems. He didn't even give Jennifer a PIP to fix any problems that were there or even inform her of problems. Andy will always put himself first over his people. I think Todd still being around proves that.
Andy Zolper will knee jerk solutions on people to clean up his perceived image. The last movement of associates showed that. Something he feels does not look good on him, he will knee jerk a solution usually ending up screwing people as they are last in his department. Don't believe they are last, see the insight survey ratings.
Duh! Andy Zolper's department was rated the worse by his people.
Andy Zolper is pretty cold too. Only interested in himself and his image his peers see. He wants to rise up and he'll be nice if he can, but if he needs to climb on everybody's back and break them, he will. Just ask Jennifer B.
Of course management only brings up the positive. Bringing up the bad might mean they would actually have to do something about it. Oh, that's right. They said they were doing something about it from the last survey and we all see where that has gotten us. It's all talk. They are just there to get a fat paycheck as long as they can. They think this board is only read by IT associates, but the business people, the ones paying IT, see what is going on as well. People outside of RJ see it. Although it is a place for people to vent, one would think that there would be occasional positive comment, but I have yet to see one.
IT Security is a joke. You get treated well if you are one of Todd's favorites. Hard work has little to do with it. Would he ever let Lauren or Jeff fail? Not a chance. Always been his favorites and they get treated accordingly. I saw the comment about being marines, but I think Andy is a great leader. His only fault is not seeing, noticing, or caring about how Todd treats employees. We all get that Todd is fake and tells him what he wants to hear. But I don't get why Andy lets it continue. Why you let one person bring morale down so much in one area, that people are looking to get out. Todd will never change his personality just as a tiger never changes it stripes. He's always going to be an ass to people. He may be a decent decision maker, and a so-so engineer, but as a manager, not even close. Let alone being a VP. There are tons of people out in this world that are just as good, if not better, than he is, and they are leaders. They don't try and rule by fear.
As stated below, the proof is in the survey. Two years running for this department. People keep getting termed or leave on their own. There is no upside people. When will Sr Management or Human Resources get it and look at the source of the problem. Start talking to people. They don't even have to be in Security. They all have the same vision of Todd.
Todd has zero personal skills. He likes to bark out orders like he was a big Marine again, but he wasn't. Just a lowly enlisted worker. Probably not a coincidence that the two highest ranking RJ security managers were Marines.
RJ is on the list for unhappy places to work. As a recruiter I will tell you word gets around and it is becoming more difficult to fill positions. Surprisingly, it's not just the lower salaries either. It seems to be the feeling in the market place that there is a better place to work. I can tell you to keep a close eye on the market itself. RJ in many years past would not lay people off in hard times, but layoffs will be the first thing to come if there is a large swing in the market. The top floor will not take the cuts, but have them done in staff reductions.
I would suggest that everyone at the company start looking for a backup plan.
Todd's groups did score the lowest in security on the insight survey and security was the lowest in IT, so do the numbers and draw the lines...........
F**K yeah. Any move under Todd would mean an email alert set up for indeed jobs that night.
Notice at the IT meeting Vin only showed the what's right slide. Didn't have the balls to show the what's wrong slide. It would have gone a long way to bring the stink into the light. Maybe speak to the feelings recorded there in the numbers. Probably to awful to even enable a response.
Not sure how he stays employed at RJ. Knows some stuff, but his people skills are absolutely awful. Satan probably got higher insight survey numbers.
Agree, Todd is very, very unprofessional, thinks he walks on water and knows everything. A serious pain in the butt to work with. Whenever a project realizes they need his services, palm face plant! Prepare to be miserable just struggling to get anything simple completed.
It's unfortunate that your organization has come to this. I am a recruiter in the area and have dealt with some of the individuals that have left the Security team locally. From an outside perspective, the RJ brand name has been hurt in the recruiting marketplace. From the past, where RJ was one of the most lucrative exciting places to work in the community, to one of the most difficult to find anyone even interested in a career there. While I can't say specifically what or whom the problem may be, it extends beyond the firm itself. As stated previously, the Raymond James brand name is not what it once was and much of the negativity stems from the security area.
There are many great companies in the area that are looking for quality security associates. You have to take the step. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how simple it is to move on. Just my two cents.
when is HR going to do their job and step in and realize what is going on in the area. or are they scared of bella/vin? look at all zolper's verticals and which area has the most turnover. security by far. its not just managers there. since TF has been in charge, tons of quality people have left. Ian C, Kevin C, Galin G, Ernie T, Kristine R, Jesus P, Eli B, Shawn H, Manny E, Bill P, Mike S, Cory P, Ken M, Thai, Brian R, Chris D, Josh M, Shane P, Kevin J, Paul F, Darin R, Mike M, Brian W, Jennifer B. Interns have left. How many does it take to realize a problem when no other area has that kind of turnover. Network team is and has been intact. Good leaders. I wonder if HR even did exit interviews. There would be a theme. How can zolper, vin, bella, not recognize this. i had thought about applying for a position in that area recently, but its not worth the risk. ever sat in a meeting with TF. hes unprofessional and thinks he walks on water and knows everything. huge chip on his shoulder. i dont know about vendor fishing trips or that other stuff. i do know that i would not work for that man. all the negativity in that area and the lack of our "leaders" recognizing the issue is just an example of how poorly things are run. ive worked for other organizations in the past and i can assure you that the majority of them wouldnt keep someone like that around. im sure even current employees of his walk on eggs looking at his track record.
wake up hr. look at the survey. nothing has changed year over year. what happened to all the changes to make things better. this should have been your project for the last 365 days. why even do a survey if the results mean nothing. you talk the talk. thats it. the only walking the occurs at rj is people, good people, walking out the door.
Agreed. Not a great team to work on any longer. Job is too stressful working for this man. He's not a people person. He's not a leader. I'm sure he's not stressed himself with all the vendor paid fishing trips and gifts he receives.
We know who it is. We deal with the pain every day. Two bad on those two. They were good people, but I guess if you are not a D**K you don't fit in well for management on that sub-team. Only MaryShannon is worse than him, but only by a hair.
For Security's poor showing, there is only one VP that is the problem. Ask Jennifer B and Kevin J.
