Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Need advice please - A friend owes me $6000 hasn't paid back in 2 years and doesn't look like he will pay

Just needed advice on this.

One of my good friend took $6000 from me 2 years ago and told me he will return in few months but its been 2 years he has made excuse after excuse..tonnes of excuses and doesn't look like he is going to pay me...

i dont have any proof the loan given to him (i gave him $3000 in cash and remaining $3000 in email transfer for which i have the email transfer proof)

just wanted to ask what if there is any legal way that i can pursue this to get my money from him?

or i am thinking i will borrow his car from him for a day (he has a pretty nice car) and then tell him i will not return the car unless you pay me the money and hope that he will eventually pay me the money this way and then i wil return him his car... if he doesn't give me money i will just take off the number plate of his and park it in some remote and area leave it there...forever

is there any legal implication of my reaction? can anyone suggest a better way? appreciate your thoughts

P.S. he bought car on cash (not on any type of financing/lease so he owns the car and he has 3rd party insurance on it).

I have learned a lesson that you cant trust anyone in this world no matter how close they are to you

Hey, times are tough buddy. Tell ya what, just loan me $10k. I will pay you back by the end of the year with 50% interest. That way you can make up some of the money you lost.

Your proposed recourse is illegal and you would be hurt - do not take anything from him without his permission. I'd take him to the small claims court for the full amount - The maximum amount an individual can sue for in Small Claims Court in California is $10,000. You have a proof for 3K, so you'll get that 100%. For the remaining 3K it's a toss, I have a gut feeling the judge will give it to you, he/she might decide to go 50/50 on the remaining 3K. Even if you lose on the remaining 3K, you got 50% of your money back which is better than 0 which you have right now - judging on your friend's behavior, he has no intention of paying it back. Small claims is fairly straightforward to file, it goes quick and typically does an extremely good job of situations like you describl

Hit up Ryan Lance. He should have about $27 million to loan out.
