IT Down and Out

I heard the new CIO speak at Briarpark last week for a lunch and learn. Seems like she drank the Deloitte Kool-Aid. She must be in awe over the cost overrun SAP implementation that Deloitte is doing.

Her resume is ok but not outstanding. I would have thought that they would have gone with someone that has more "turnaround" experience, given the shape that IT is in.I do think that she made some good personnel moves getting rid of the Sr Directors and the other directors. Now whether she recognized that they were incompetent or just cutting costs remains to be seen.

At least she has an IT background unlike the previous CIO that ran IT into the ground. Good luck IT. I hope that everything works out for you.

George Sutherland is why we had so many cost overruns with Optimus. Dumbest guy in IT, heads up the biggest project. He does not know anything, total blowhole. Even has 3 misspellings on his linkedin page, that lack of concern for details gets really expensive when you make little errors in a project as big as Optimus.

The crap indians are mostly developers. They are the only mildly competent and valuable skillset people in IT. The rest, on average are lazy (or just too inefficient and ignorant to realize 90% of their work can be automated), politically motivated, and lack any real capabilities. At best, they can use a tool or two, but nothing truly technical.

Time to clean house. No need for so much waste. Better to fire them than those who actually earn their paycheck.

The new CIO is a strong leader. She has a lot on her plate and it is hard to fix an organization that runs to Deloitte for the many talent voids. Time for change!

Incompetence! Where lazy people hide and avoid accountability.

Security and Core Tech need to be bulldozed. Start over, terrible culture, no one worth salvaging. BW is hardworker but team is useless, fat and among the biggest wastes of resources in IT.

Project Managers are babysitters and meeting schedulers. They march projects to failure. Only keep 3 with technical skills. Enterprise Architecture is 10-20 years past prime, resistant to the outsourcing to cloud. Led by a pear shaped egotistical prick trying to cling to relevance.

Optimus director (GS) is the dumbest blowhole. Not qualified, too stupid to prevent the Deloitte cost overruns and loves his own voice. How is he still on payroll?! Only BC in OCM is a bigger narcissist.

Start new with Core Tech, Security, OCM and EA. Review PMs. Fire GS. Hold Helpdesk accountable and outsource. Get Optimus done, fire 90%+. Outsource training, Super User, asset management, and infrastructure. Review others.
