Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Rush to cut staffing.

2015 2nd quarter earnings coming out 7/23/15 don't look good. Knee jerk reaction to appease stock holders. Management restructuring, FT hours once set at 40, reduced to 32. Hiring frozen. Some lead positions eliminated. New structure is almost undoable as extensive responsibility put on smaller staff. Fact is they are expanding too fast and their supply chain is broken. Stock holders only need to tour store to see lack of product. Company wide, even brand new stores affected. Company line to get in line with industry standards. Reality is stores can't be supported but closing or curtailing stores would throw stock prices into chaos. Loyalty is suffering greatly among both long and short time Outfitters. Everything unveiled within past week with GM having to follow strict timelines on staff notification to complete by earnings date. Outfitters shocked and feel betrayed. Morale at all time low.

I am also pretty sure the CEO Tommy Milner and EVP Michael Copeland stood in front of that group of employees (as they do at every GO) and delivered what appeared to be an emotional speech about how great things are and were going to be. Included was probably the standard "you'll never have to work for another company" line. So one of two things were happening at that point: they knew things were not good and chose to lie or they had no idea what was going on because they have surrounded themselves with incompetence.

New store opened in Massachusett . Several managers laidoff. They feel incredibly betray. They worked very hard to get the store ready to open then once up and running booted out the door. I am a loyal Cabelas customer and very disappointed that they treat their employees like Walmart does.
