You know, my sister is a hard core liberal Democrat and she is always taking the time to send someone a care package over seas. Usually to people she doesn't even know, like someones brother or son. And she is a nurse, she is not making a ton of money. Yet, with all my conservative Republican friends, as much as they talk about being patriotic, and the flag and god bless America, and their right to own guns, not a singe one has done this. And about half of them live in the houses worth over a million dollars.
It used to be the the Republicans were all about supporting the military and the Democrats were against all of that. But it's not 1960 anymore. Things have flipped and Dems support the troops a lot more then the Republicans. I remember the a year into 9/11 the republicans would not even pay for extra body armor for the troops. It was the Dems who pushed for that. They would not up the budget for the returning vets which as we can see has had disastrous effect of physical care and mental health. Yet all you hear on FOX news is how Republicans support the military and Dems just want to spend money. Yeah, Dems want to spend money to support the people who put their life on the line, I guess that is a crime in the Republican world. And I guess buy support you mean a bumper sticker.
I agree, Im a Vet and I usually vote Republican because they push for the Military spending but on this issue Im with Obama and the Dems.
Ironically, most of these guys at the top I am sure vote Republican and drive around with a Support The Troops bumper sticker on their SUV. Meanwhile they are the most unpatriotic of all Americans. Raping them over for every penny they go like a cash cow at the slaughter. Here is a thought, how about making the cost for vets totally free! They served your country, its the least you could do. In my neck of the woods, cops and vets usually get free stuff all the time just for serving the public. It's sort of an unofficial thank you. Time these vets wise up and vote for a party that is actually going to protect them and not the ones with the phoney I care bumper sticker.
