Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Ops review postponed... RIF is imminent?

Just heard that the Ops review that is scheduled for the beginning of July has been postponed. Am wondering if this is the beginning of the widescale layoffs. The number being thrown around is 3K although with PIPs and elimination of interns/consultants, etc. that number could be even higher. Anyone hearing anything like this?

One of the reasons Q may be getting rid of IT in San Diego is that there have been several court rulings where the courts have held IT workers must be paid overtime, for more than 40 hrs. work per week, even if they are salaried.

@109696 - Prob true but that round of layoffs had tons of news pouring in from all groups about 1 month before it happened. We knew because we were doing a small reorg to get rid of a few. I havent heard or seen the same thing this time around. Maybe they have a new strategy this time around.

The layoff announcement and WARN notice will be posted on the EDD website on the same day that employees are notified. That's how it worked last time when employees were notified on 12/10/2014, which is the same day it was formally announced by the Q and EDD WARN was posted. Until then, it is all "rumors"

Nothing about this meant to be funny or trying to fearmonger. These are rumors I have heard in Bldg. N (not gonna narrow my identity down any further than that) and not even saying they're right. Just asking... you know, forming a query. As for the WARN alarm, am thinking they can time that to come out once the alarm sounds inside the Q. And for the folks who pretend to be from HR, it's not funny anymore (actually never was), your constant joke of "all is fine, get back to work".

109653 - Doesnt mean anything. I work in a group where they do reviews at all. Been here 7 years.

The first thing noticed by my friends who were laid off last round is that they didn't review goals for the next review period with their managers. If that is happening, then it's a big hint

I can confirm the regular lay offs in it.

also confirm that pip is used as a tool to get rid of people

109569 You are on to something. Regular layoffs in IT, increasing number of QC employees at Outplacement Service in San Diego, increasing PIP terminations and the fact that the Stock a Market is up today and QC stock is down again all point to more radical cost saving measures ahead. Despite the insipid comments that everything is OK at QC. Give us a break!

Just another stupid joke. This forum is full of wanna be stand up comics

I am gonna guess either a Broadcom or Intel person who hates Q or was an ex-Q.

Are you trying to scare the 3 QC people on this board? Nothing in WARN notice YET if your 3K number has any truth

I call BS unless you provide some proof

"Elimination of interns"... You seriously think sending interns home a month early is going to make any difference in OpEx?
