I have never worked for such an unscrupulous company. Our first campus president said he had a five year retirement plan, but headed for the hills after two years, i'm sure with a fat retirement package. For me, that was the beginning of the end for us. Our discount dean plays everything so close to the vest that I have to wonder how EDMC finds these people who are willing to screw with the lives of employees they claim to care about.
My heart goes out to our students. Many of them will never be able to pay back loans, get credit, or buy a home. These huge loans will be hanging over their heads for their lifetime. Our faculty is dedicated to helping students because we have hearts and want to see students succeed. Administration at all levels will sit fat and happy after the schools close and not give damn about the people they preyed upon. We have brought students along to "college-level" work who would never have been accepted at other schools. My sense is that it is the same across "the system" (hate that tag).
And before anyone posts asking why did you stay or why not get out, let me say this. I need insurance. I had cancer and need ongoing treatment. I live in a place that is essentially adjunct heaven which we all know carries no insurance or other benefits.
But again, my sadness is also for the students.
