Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

Unpaid wages

Do you know someone who might help me with some basic questions about unpaid wages here in Houston area? I was let go back in January but I am thinking that I should contact a lawyer to see if I can recover unpaid wages. I spent over 10 years with Baker and I really think that the way I was treated during the separation was really bad and unfair. Thank you in advance!

I also had unpaid wages/bonus (as per my contract) and I asked for an extension before signing my release papers. I wrote a strongly worded email to HR and pointed out that I have fulfilled the terms of my contract prior to being let go. HR had to review my file and they eventually agreed to pay me my bonus, but even after that, I had to constantly call them and remind them that I have not forgotten about my money. I got the run around a lot, but was insistent and I finally got everything... a month later.

Point is, call them and don't worry about sounding whiny. If you are entitled to the money, and you can back it up, you can be your own lawyer.

If you were unhappy about your remuneration, then you should have done something while you were employed. Now you sound like another lets go to the lawyers to get myself a big pay day check loser.

You'll get nowhere with this, no attorney would take this case. Baker pays.

My spouse was laid off after 9 years with a different company back in February. The company made the laid off employees sign paperwork that laid out terms, including that they would not sue the company, in order to receive their severance package. You might want to look closely at the paperwork. If it says anything like that then it would be an uphill battle and more than likely a waste of your time and money.

When were you not paid? Over the course of 10 years or just at the end? Why do you think you were treated unfairly? Just because you worked 10 years doesn't make you entitled to anything beyond what you negotiated for or received in writing. Hurt feelings won't get you anything.

Waste of time. They don't owe you sh*t.

Just move on, you'll waste a ton of energy and will get nowhere. They will defend vigorously, and you will end up paying your lawyer and losing all the time. Just move on, forget litigation, mediation or whatever it is, Baker has more resources than you and they will overpower you in the legal arena. Alternatively, you might want to see if some lawyer would take your case without you having to pay for the service up-font, maybe that's an option for you.
