I had a sales manager who used to pride himself how he could spot economically disadvantaged customers and falsely accuse them of theft. He told me he wanted to "lie" and say I saw a customer steal merchandise. He claimed he received a financial reward each time he "discovered" another shop lifter. When I refused to go along he was furious and promised me each day he'd find a way to make it look I was stealing from the company. I attempted to tell District Manager, the General Manager and the hot line. Nothing happened. I was told by my GM and DM that they are "aware " of his behavior... but by acknowledging it....they would have to fire him. And they can't do that because he has a family to feed. He was allowed to do this for five years and no one stopped him. The people whom he accused were released because there was no evidence to hold them. It was later discovered that the Sales Manager who was doing all the accusing was the one stealing. However in that time. no one would take the word of the associates who saw this happen.
