Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

To those that received bad reviews for no reason......

Let us know what happens. Did you get put on a PiP? If you do get let go, let us know if they try to fight unemployment. That is what the bad reviews and PiPs are implemented for, to prevent having to pay severance and unemployment. So far, everyone I know that they tried to block unemployment on has won in court. The amount of people I have heard this happening to is staggering. Many people I once worked with and thought well of are now unemployed or just read the writing on the wall and found other jobs. If you do end up getting termed, let us know what the circumstances were, and if Staples fights unemployment. If you go to court, tell us what kind of tactics they use to try to prove you are not entitled to unemployment insurance. They are using a set strategy to get rid of people, we should develop our own.

Got fired and unemployment was denied ...was blessed to find a new job later that same week.

Got fired for being tardy last week....submitted for unemployment..still waiting for a decision.

Performance has nothing to do with this. It is mostly about pay and cost savings. If they feel you are expendable and can be replaced with a lower paid supervisor they will not hesitate to screw you over on your eval and then start the PIP process. Do not let it make you feel inferior, or unemployable elsewhere. It's all about the money to them.

My review has so many false statements its rediculous. But if I call them out on these it will get worse. What am I supposed to do. I can't quit til I have another job and that isn't happening fast enough.
