They will ask us to sign a document saying we will never sue them or talk smack
about them. This is what they have done to others.
Priceless.

Thanks for explaining.
They were negotiating all the way up until Friday. When the last potential buyer walked away, any further operations became pointless, especially since the company was unlikely to have the financial means to make it to the end of the quarter.
What was the benefit of knowing the company would declare bankruptcy, yet still
teach for one week?
There's nothing to sign, company is declaring bankruptcy and dissolving.
I have seen this doc they want employees to sign. Who cares is they have it tomorrow.
The point is, like everything else, CCI figured they could get away with it.
Sick time won't be paid, per CA law. Those dicks capped our vacation time a couple years ago, so we're limited to three days of payable time.
Anyone know if we get sick time as well as vacation on our last check? I accrued a lot and didn't take it since they were so hard on us to meet student learning outcomess.
Did enough faculty work hard to meet learning outcomes for classes? probably not. Shame on all of you educated people! You should have known better than to sink the good ship Corinthian.
I owe them company property? You mean like the white board markers I had to sign out to teach with?
They owe you a final check. You owe them any company property you may have. There is no basis for legal action by anyone.
I understand that there is no money to be had, but what possible legal action is left for employees? Is there any reason to sign or not to sign any paperwork tomorrow? I would just as soon walk out of there tomorrow and never look back, but I'm not going to let those assholes take advantage of me either.
I think they will tell the faculty one more time that this mess could have been avoided if faculty would have just worked harder and better.
There's been no severance the entire year. Remember that federal monitor that controls unnecessary expenses? Yeah, severance packages are "unnecessary".
Tomorrow you'll receive your paycheck for the pay period that ended on Friday, and a payout for any vacation time you had in the time bank. If you're lucky, they might throw in a card board box to haul out your personal items, although I wouldn't count on it.
Thanks for answering 720
717- There is no severance because there is no money. Severance is not a legal obligation of a company.
So, when did they prepare our packets or our checks.. was it Friday? Is it early monday? Why were there boxes of papers and records sent away on friday? And why is there no severance? Is that legal?
There will not be severance.
There will not be severance.
Severance? From this place?
I would be surprised if severance was offered.
Actually, tomorrow is for you to receive your final paycheck and a packet of information such as unemployment. There will be no severances
They are still required to pay us our last check right regardless if we sign those docs?
They can't make you sign but they can give you a severance check on the condition that you sign. Most people need the money. That's how they get you. That's how severance works.
I hope pay checks will be there.
So don't sign it. They have no authority to make you sign it.
