Great designers and marketing types alike are fleeing Mattel's toxic culture for greener pastures at other toy companies. Shamefully, there is no security, no loyalty, no passion left at this once-great company. Between layoffs and people quitting, there will soon be nothing left but yes men parasites wondering where all the good ones went. But no one sees that train wreck coming. So much for visionary leadership. Don't let this week's temporary bump up in stock price fool you. Mattel has hit the iceberg and is foundering. And the band played on. Probably "Brown Eyed Girl".
It's a shame that the talent which made Mattel great is being parted out. That's the real death of Mattel. Senior management's new idea of innovation is asking the customers for ideas. Yes I'm serious. THAT'S creativity? THAT'S passion? THAT'S innovation? THAT'S what COO Richard Dickson brought to the party? So far all he has done is to make a bad joke worse.
