Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

You'll Make It!

This company is actively hostile to policies that build security, and that unfortunately also means your security. Whether you've just RIFed yourself or not, keep pushing to find something new. You can do it. You're better than this situation leaves you feeling. Its scary, but keep going, its out there!

Life is better for me now. It is scary - but everyone was worried for long about losing their jobs - now they can face their fears. The atmosphere at EDMC has been toxic for many years. It is a loss for all, the reputation, the good people, the students. Hard to believe a graduate won a Pulitzer Prize. Not the same place anymore.

After a ton of years with EDMC my job was part of a RIF. Heartbreaking at the time and could not think of what I would do instead. Someone I worked with while at EDMC contacted me and offered me a job: twice the salary at half the stress. I have talked to many who were RIFfed, only to find out that they could do better. True, some struggled, but don't despair, it is possible. Stay in touch with your contacts.

Good luck 818! Making an important change in employers can be stressful, but the fact that you posted it here is going to help hundreds, if not thousands of EDMC employees. Thanks for having the courage to share your experience. Yes, there is life after EDMC....... I wish I had not ate, drank and slept my job at EDMC, but there are many life lessons to be learned with any stressful experience. Good luck 818!
