I can not disagree with the facts that they are fostering an enviroment places too much pressure on us. And I understand it's worse for the peoole who have pride and want to do a good job, however, getting sick from stress, not taking lunches, working off the clock is just not smart and frankly your choice. Friends, dont let them convince you that staples has any importance at all. Love, compasion, friends, family, personal wellness and such is what life is about. One s scale of 1 to 10, staples and its products rank negative one trillion in importance. Next time they ask you to work in your day off, stay late, just smile and say no. And dont be afraid, leave staoles and life goes on......most time it gets better.

I just have to laugh at the orientation and the so called company values. It all looks good in print. However the reality of the job was evident. The only time procedure and policy were followed is when the management wanted to give some one the boot and get rid of them. Ironic since no one followed the rules. I've heard more swearing and hollering in this job by frustrated managers who have no other power in their life than the authority they have at Staples to push and threaten people on the job.
There was one lady I worked with who was a manager who was a maniac She constantly swore and talked inappropriately. Yet she was loved by the managers because in their view she was more effective by abusing people She would get away with swearing at customers, coming to work drunk and or high and nothing would happen. It was surreal that a person who had no business in management, was running a store into chaos. It was like "One Flew Over the Coo Coo's Nest" in the store each day. Your ears would be numb if you heard the amount of profanity I've heard in my time there. This woman was obviously mentally ill . We had so many complaints from corporate yet she was still allowed to stay with the company. She never got any work done. Every two minutes she was going outside on a cigarette break. Everyone from customers, other store managers to employees would claim that she has no business working in retail To make a long story short ....I had to get out of this nut house. I don't know how it was tolerated for so long, however it was one of the worst job experiences of my life.
I am seriously keeping my fingers crossed that the company stays solvent long enough to pay out my severance. I honestly have no desire to see the company tank after I leave. They treated me well and paid me fairly. Yes, getting laid off sucked. No two ways about that. It's nothing I took personally, though, inasmuch as I treated it as something the company did to me and me alone. It's just the nature of large corporations to do this at some point. Staples is in no way unique. Not even close. (crosses fingers, closes eyes and prays:) Just stave off bankruptcy long enough to pay out my severance. Once I get the last dollar I'm owed, it's really not going to matter much to me what happens to the company after it's all over. Not a hate scene from me toward Staples. Can't honestly say I wish them the best, but I certainly won't wish them the worst. There will still be people working with the company after I'm gone whom I consider friends, and I don't want them to get laid off. Sayonara and good luck.
This is a company with a new direction. Closing stores and keeping as little staff as possible. From store employees to drivers to managers. That's okay though once the company files for bankruptcy they are only going to need the liquidation company to sell out what's left in the stores and Staples will be history.
I know the feeling . I will have one day off( today) in 12 days. Just got done with inventory but aside from that the stress has ruined my personal life so bad that I didn't even attend a funeral because just me thinking about requesting a day off only to hear bitchig about it made me sick and scared
