Just so you know, Staples has only had their own fleet for 15 years, give or take. To think that they will not survive once they move from fleet, to 3rd party is total bullshit! I have heard drivers say that 3rd party will not be able to handle the volume once it has been fully handed over, Bullshit! If you think that another company cant take over a region, you are sadly mistaken. 3rd party has done it before, and they will do it again. I hear you, no one knows the customer like I do, and yea you are right. But to think you are not replaceable is a joke! You are the best at what you do, for now... Remember when you took over for the last driver that quit? Well that is what is going to happen on a much larger scale! The death nail of our fleet was the internet, and the bloated sense of entitlement that drivers an loaders feel they deserve. Trust me I have seen people hang around WAY to long, and feel that seniority should make you worth more, WRONG! As long as you are moving forward, and trying to improve, then you may be able to deserve some sort of consideration. Hate from the top down if you must, but the real fact is, that business has changed , and I can bet you all that everyone else in the delivery business is doing the same thing. Long gone are the days of the nich market. There will be a learning curve, but at some point 3rd party will get it right...It happens! P.S. I am gonna miss all of this...

Is so going third party?
Well you said 2 years Staples is out....1 year left.....you may not be right. Stop being a hater....move on!
As for WB-they are in slow motion with little cash on hand and lottttttts of internal software/EC/and distribution issues..........Its public knowledge-ask any of ther customers..... BIG TIME!!!!!
Carrying your own fleet is very costly and WB is feeling this in a big way. Vendors are saying WB is very slowwwwwwww with paying....hmmmmmmmmm what could that mean?
Hello.....cmon
wake up people
staples will be out of business within 2 yrs it all comes down to service
Just so you know Staples has had there own fleet for 20yrs 6 months GET IT RIGHT!!!
Sure third party companies can do the job however the level of service has dropped big time. Sadly to say most of these third party drivers do not give a crap about customer service. They pull up with the delivery drop the product by the door and leave. You pay for what you get is the old saying. Staples is now paying a Lower cost for the delivery for shit service. WB mason is going to win a lot of new business from unhappy customers. Most of the third party drivers are dirty looking people who looked like they crawled out from a sewer.
"3rd party delivery" You are right in certain aspects! U see it in the "3rd party" view. As a former Staples driver that had 8yrs in that company and was let go do to "3rd party"! I hold no grudges against the "3rd party" taking over! So quit talking ur bullshit and get the facts!!!! We were all played wrong by Staples deliveries! Sure several dudes still might have a bitter taste in their mouth but then again who wouldn't after learning ur employer is taking our jobs away to save money! I see the big picture.. It's a buissness and that's reality at times! So U "3rd party delivery", we not all think that way! I wish "3rd party" the best and have absolutely nothing agains them!!! About the BS of the "customers"?!?! U just making yourself look bitter and easy to get under your skin. P.S, I absolutely won't miss this shit! Emo
Mason is in acquisition mode also in the Great Lakes Region. The company the purchased locally expanded their fleet to cover the increase in business. Staples is not the lone wolf they once were, the independents are making a strong fight and have the national support through is.group, AOPD, and the United Stationers network.
"the bloated sense of entitlement drivers and loaders feel they deserve" because they "feel that seniority should make you worth more"...wow...yeah...imagine that. It is totally outrageous for an associate to feel that their long term loyalty to a company should be rewarded with pay increases. You can replace a tenured fleet driver with a courier. Sure, everyone can be replaced (as many in Staples transportation management are now finding out - ha ha - I guess in the eyes of those who make the major decisions within the company, you guys weren't any more special than the associates who actually did the work when it came to the nut-cutting of the transportation labor force, were you? but don't feel bad, since local management were little more than conduits to feed the daily Staples corporate pablum to the minions on the local level anyway - local management just did what they were told to do by corporate, just like everyone else). Anyway, of course fleet drivers can be replaced by couriers. The level of service the customers experienced with the fleet drivers will never be replicated by couriers. It won't even come close. Customers eventually accepting a diminished level of service by couriers doesn't therefore mean couriers will do the job better than fleet drivers. They'll just do it cheaper. Staples will save a lot of money with this move in the short-term. The long-term effects all this downsizing (not just talking fleet elimination, here) will have on the business? Surviving as opposed to thriving? Only time will tell. And by that point, none of us will be with the company anymore and probably won't give a shit one way or the other. Just remember for those still with the company who aren't losing their jobs as a result of the retail and transportation downsizing - what the company is doing to us today can easily be done to you tomorrow. Your tenure, level of dedication and loyalty to Staples won't mean jack shit when a bean-counter determines your employment is a financial liability.
Psssssssttttttttttttt WB Mason has all their own drivers and are cleaning Staples clocks in the Northeast..... They will continue to eat their lunch all day long too!!! Why can they perform at a high level but not Staples????
They may survive, but, at what cost to the customers that have been loyal? I can't count the number of times I've received complaints because a third party driver delivered in a 1972 Ford Conversion Van, reeking like a chimney from all the cigarettes they smoke, plumbers crack showing, and dropping the boxes and leaving them where ever. Get a grip/
Is this gay Ronnie?
This shit makes me want to laugh! Staples did this so they can better compete with Amazon ! You will never be like Amazon ! I hope and pray that Amazon disappears staples from the map! They f***in deserve it for treating their employees like shit! With no regards for their employees! I was there 15 yrs and Karma is a bitch so be ready staples!
With a 39% loss in the 1st quarter it really shows that staples has a bright future. Anyone can make a delivery. It takes an Associate to deliver the customer setvice which what staples would sell. I don't see Staples being what it was. I was I didn't and I proudly walk away. No remource in my book.
14 yrs plus FYI
I guess we are about to find out how long it will take 3rd party to get it right. Gee that must be why the drivers in L.A and La Mirada hubs are getting called to go back to work for one more month. Poway was extended another month as well. I can honestly say... thanks but no thanks. Give me my severance and let me look for something else.
F YOU ! You must be one of those who sucked so much dick so you can stay! Both you and staples can eat shit and die ! Stupid dumb f
