All SDO's except Alaska were given notice today they will be closing.

Payette...what a joke! He might know some things about how trucks operate and function be the guy isn't as smart as he thinks he is. And even more importantly, he gets off on making people look bad instead of helping them. He wouldn't last one day in the field and that's a fact! I'll put it this way, he can't get his a$$ out of a paper bag with a GPS and a flashlight. (A Prerequisite to be $taples upper management)
I sure hope Mike Payette is retained in some capacity seeing that he such a know-it-all smart ass. I mean seeing that seeing that he is such a smart individual. ;)

I was a driver for over eight years working in the northeast. I can tell you the service that the third party delivery companies provide is very bad service. I talk to former customers and I been told the delivery drivers they now have are ignorant and lazy and customers are lucky if the driver brings the product inside the office to the customer . Staples is going to lose a lot of customers over this and I can see Staples filing for bankruptcy in the future.
That bs web ex was the biggest blunder Staples came up with. Having a bunch of clueless people do the routing . I see that strive for 95 really worked out well for the company. To much wasted money on to many supervisors and managers.

So sad....back in the day I really thought this company was going places...great teams...great employees. ..having a second family at staples made working 50 hours a week bearable...we got the job done and not just that.. we were PROUD!......it's so sad to see it disintegrate before our eyes. .when it had so much potential. ..but now it's money..power and more money.but nothing for the little people....they killed it all by themselves. ..so sad!!..I hope everybody's find something better for themselves remember know your worth!
Why would anyone getting laid off waste their time telling Ron "to his face" how they feel? Staples treated their employees as little more than an id number, and now those id numbers are being deleted in the form of layoffs. It'd be a waste of time to even bother getting face time with anyone at an executive level capacity. We're the hired help, and we are disposable. Despite all the bullshit you'd hear for years in newsletters about how "valuable" the employees were, in the end it all amounted to a bunch of talk, didn't it? And talk is cheap. Staples is no different than any other company. The mistake was believing it was. I'm glad it's all coming to a close.

Well, it's a positive thing in that the remaining SDO's that hadn't been given their closure notices prior to today now don't have to wonder if their SDO will survive, or when they will be given their closure notice. One in our state got their notice and we had to wait more than a few months after that to get ours, and I'll tell you nothing sucks more than sitting around waiting for a closure notice when you know it's coming sooner or later. At least now you'll get a target closing date and can actually start planning for the future, rather than sitting there in limbo month after month going "is our location gonna close?" "when is it gonna close?" "will our location survive the chopping block?". Now you know it is gonna close, you know when it's gonna close and you know your location (unless you live in, say, Anchorage) won't survive.
I'm so glad I'm happily unemployed from that hell hole. I can only think of one manager that I have respect for, his counterparts and managers he reports to all suck. Thank you Staples, you gave me the bet gift EVER for getting rid of me.
