Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

It is immoral and wrong.

The idea of punishing an entire company and especially shutting it down is fundamentally wrong and immoral. The vast majority of employees did nothing wrong - so why would they lose their jobs? If there was misleading data put out to students, punish the wrongdoers. It would be simple to identify who was in the decision loop. Compile the evidence and take them to trial. But punishing thousands of innocent people is not justice. It is immoral and wrong.

706 Are these Heald former employees qualify working at Taco Bell or Mc Donald? I think they're over qualified.

EVERY single person employed by Heald in at least the last year knew exactly what was going on and did nothing. Why? You wanted to keep getting your paycheck. Had nothing to do with students or your morals. The ship is sinking and Heald along with your paycheck are going down with it.

709 The feeling is mutual if you asked all the former grads that got screwed too.

It is immoral and wrong! What Corinthian College did to students, staff, teachers and the US tax payer. Now how to right the wrong? Who should be punished and for what? Are there employees who really did nothing wrong? Do you have a list of wrongdoers? Who was in the decision loop? What would Justice look like in this situation?

I love cheese but not wine!

So, in 10 years you did nothing wrong? Did you notice anything wrong in those 10 years?

I'm sorry for you loss and the difficulties of having an autistic child. I do hope you find income and a way to support your family. But who is responsible for the situation you are in right now? Jack?

Has this situation caused you to go own public aid?

Who did heald target? Did Admissions employees (or any employees) "troll homeless shelters" to enroll students? Did people really pass with a 10% attendance rate? Is there anyone who isn't getting "screwed" by this F-up system?

Did they treat employees like shit?

How far back has the writing been on the wall? When did you first realize things were wrong?

Does the asshole at the top still have lots of money?

Have any of you admitted a student that you knew was not prepared for college and would likely fail?

Did any of you work in Financial Aid and packaged a student who had no comprehension of the difference between a grant and a loan, or you knew they had no intention of paying back their obligations?

Have any of you been an instructor and have bowed to the pressure of those above you to pass a student that you know shouldn't pass?

"The vast majority of employees did nothing wrong" Other than maintenance/house keeping there isn't a department that hasn't done wrong. If you are in Admissions and admitted a student that you knew was not prepared for college and will more than likely fail, you have done wrong. If you work in Financial Aid and packaged a student who had no comprehension of the difference between a grant and a loan, or you knew they had no intention of paying back their obligations, you have done wrong. If you are an instructor and have bowed to the pressure of those above you to pass a student that you know shouldn't pass you have done wrong. Yes, most of us set out to do what is best for the student, but we all eventually did things we were uncomfortable with under pressure from our superiors. Just because we did it under duress it doesn't make it any less wrong. We are/were all complicit.

I don't get it. This is the CCI business model. Nobody did anything they weren't supposed to do, however immoral. The model exists to make a bunch of money for the assholes at the top, and there's no getting off the merry-go-round before the ride is over. It's rotten, but this is the company we work for. Kamala Harris is doing her job of enforcing the law and making sure there are consequences for a company based around taxpayer theft and exploiting students. Time to face the music.

I do sympathize but I am 50 and I got a job after leaving those greedy bastards because guess what? They treat employees like shit too! Get your unemployment if the axe does fall and get out there. There are millions of us older people in the workforce. Don't have an old attitude. Youth is about every and exuberance. No it's nt your fault and you did nothing wrong but the writing is and has been on the wall for quite some time. This a not a good company and not a good business model. What's immoral is what Corporate America does every day. Because corporations don't have a soul. But most companies are run better. Speaking from experience. Heald and CCi is a culture of fear. And ultimate of failure.

709 If you have been at Heald 10 years, then you know exactly who Heald targets and how every is part of the corruption from the admissions staff who troll homeless shelters, to a school that allows people to pass with a 10% attendance rate, to being placed in minimum wage jobs with crippling debt. So I am tired of hearing how Heald is a victim in all of this. Maybe you have a hard situation and calling you specifically a cry baby, was more to address the victimization thread on here that is truly nauseating. In your personal situation, you seem literate and probably would do some good to go to the EDD office and talk about your options. I have been laid off and honestly found it a place to better myself and my career over 40. If you aren't one of the many scammers in the Heald system, then perhaps this is your opportunity to be a part of something better and whining isn't going to help either way. But look at the whole situation, it isn't a few bad apples, it is a f***ed up system, where everyone is getting screwed right now.

No sympathy at all. A few weeks ago, Heald employees were complaining that only the parent company and other brands were involved in wrongdoing. Now it's "not that many of us were doing it." What will the protest be next week? The rot was end to end from admissions to career services. Those who didn't do something related to the many misrepresentations were aware of it and chose to look the other way. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Actually I was laid off by Heald last year. I had worked there for 7 years, I am single with three children and one of them was seriously ill. No one cared, I was told my job was eliminated and I would have insurance coverage until the end of the month (which was 3 days away). I am also over 40 and have not been able to find a job that pays enough to survive. Trust me, start looking now, because it is not easy out there.

706-- I agree, I am whining. Call me a cry baby all you want. I have been a Heald employee for 10 years now, I am a widow I have 3 kids, one of them is autistic, this is my only income, and I am over 40 years old. are you gonna help me get a new job? are you going to provide for my family. Since you have the audacity to call me a F***ing cry baby and a whine? Have you ever been in a situation like where I am right now?
