Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

DOE working on a process to help federal student loan borrowers submit a defense to repayment of their federal student loans.

Hello Original Poster (Student),

I'm not expert and I don't want to mislead you but I believe the US Dept of Edu is currently working on a process to help federal student loan borrowers submit a "Defense of Repayment" which is a stipulation in the FASFA financial aid app. If your college broke state law or made other violation then you probably will have to go through the process to get your federal student loans discharged or written off or whatever the legal term is.

But that doesn't include private loans, etc (or at least that's my understanding). There is a group of students/alumni refusing to pay the loans back because of the fraud. Please let me know if you want to learn more.

I'm sorry you all went through this. If I could help I would. I hate to see people face injustice. I figured the company must have also scammed or mistreated its employees like it did the students. I can only imagine how demoralizing this whole thing has been. It seems like the employees could collectively do something but I guess that's easier said than done....

There is no banning together of employees. This process has dragged on for almost a year. We have all been systematically demoralized to the point where we see no hope. We're waiting for the inevitable end.

I have a thirst for knowledge and despise injustice.

I was trying to figure out what, if any, action the Oregon & Washington State Attorney General took against Corinthian College. I called both yesterday and I'm still waiting to hear back. It appears both may have closed their investigation without any actions but then I read a letter they sent by them and 7 other AG's to the DOE. When I went to the DOE website to figure out what was going. I saw the above info about the "Defense to Repayment". It doesn't sound like a lot of new agencies picked up on this small announcement buried in a press release but I assume more will be coming in the next couple of weeks. I had heard about that "defense" previously from another person. I'm trying to find out more but I'm left with more questions than answers. I did a google search on "Heald College Portland" and wanted to see what has been posted most recently when I came across a link to these forums. I started reading and I had questions about what people said here. But it's just a lot of insults and twisted sexual B.S. mostly around here.

I'm NOT a former or current employee or student of anything to do with Corinthian College.

I'm not a reporter or a lawyer or investigator or anything. I'm just a person trying to figure out what happened and who all got hurt and who is responsible for the hurt.

I'm motivate to find the truth and for justice to be served. I figured employees would be banning together to protect their rights and fight back but i guess not.

SPDX, Why do you want all the information? Are you an employee, student or an investigator for a lawyer? Tell us your needs and motives and we just may help you with what you are fishing for. Just curious is not a reason.

Yeah, I have tiny furry balls! The only problems is I don't want to go to Jack's office. I want to protest outside his house. But no one around here seems to know anything of use....

You don't have answer any of my questions or reply to my comments. I'm not aware of any of the lawsuits still pending. I thought students and employees were have a hard time taking legal action against Corinthian, etc due to some arbitration agreement or something. Like I said, I'm just trying to figure what happened and what's going to happen.

I found this site by doing a google search. I've never posted here before & don't know much about how it works. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with Heald & Corinthian. As far as being legit. I don't know what else to tell you. I read a press release from the US DOE about what I posted. I'm definitely not CK and I'm not a "plant". I'm here to find out info.

SDPDX is either CK or a plant, still trying to figure it out. The questions and statements do not make any sense at this stage of the game. I suggest you either ignore or at the least be careful in your responses. Just saying, seems like something is wrong with this poster.
