Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

The way I see it

I understand the skepticism surrounding the fact that there are still interested buyers for us. But take a step back, take the emotion out, and look at it objectively. I do not believe for a minute that Heald management is lying to us about this. Think about it, at this stage of the game, what would they possibly have to gain? Nothing! I am fairly certain that if the potential buyers had already walked away we would know it. The reality is that we would have already received an email from Eeva telling us that sale of Heald College fell through and we are preparing for an orderly shutdown through a teach-out. My opinion is that the reason we have not received this type of email yet is because there is in fact still interested parties at the table still negotiating terms. I agree with another poster in that if the ED truly wanted us shut down we would be shut down already. I believe the ED would still approve a sale which is why negotiations are still taking place. Now, I'm not saying that a sale will actually happen, but I am saying that until we receive the email from Eeva telling us we are winding down operations, we still have a fighting chance to be sold.

OP - An interesting perspective, well-reeasoned. Yes, the DOE would love for a sale to occur. Gets them off the hook for all those loans they approved even while understanding the deceitful nature of the college. DOE is not the issue. The issue is finding someone willing to absorb all the liabilities, lawsuits, the loss of CalGrants, the loss of Tile IV funds at two schools, etc. CCI can't give away these campuses, no matter how hard they try. What managment has to gain by allowing you to belive that a sale is still possible is your continued work and subservience while they plan the shutdown. Don't leave any persdonal belongings at the office this weekend.....

It's pretty naive to say that Heald management wouldn't lie.

OP, you’re working on the assumption that Heald’s upper management is composed of intelligent, competent, ethical, rational individuals who are acting in the best interest of students and employees. This has never been the case. They are habitual liars who have consistently misrepresented themselves over the years. And, as we all know, that’s precisely why the California AG, US Dept. of Ed, et al. are shutting them down.

Yes, there are interested parties who are willing to take on the California AG and other states' attorneys general's suits, a $30k federal fine, as well as the inability to receive Cal Grants, the inability to enroll new students, and the inability to accept title IV funds at two campuses.

Eeva is not going to send out any email without CCi's blessing. There is no buyer. If there was it would already have been announced and CSAC and the DOE would have already been told prior to their meeting and letters. Wake up. Remember, Eeva was one of the principals in getting the deal done with CCi.
