Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

Answers

I am just looking for answers. I am a Heald student and have 3 quarters until I graduate. Do I plan for school next week? What is the quality of the school or teachers for that matter if a teach out happens. I just want to know something. Having to search online all day is giving me anxiety

Seriously? They told you there were buyers?

@OP: What was shared by the CP today is 1) that as of the morning of 4/15, there were still buyers. 2) We will know what happens to the school within 48 hours. 3) There is a possibility that they will close the doors come Monday 3) An email/text will be sent to inform students, faculty and staff about the upcoming quarter either (ideally) Friday afternoon or early Monday morning. Some questions were tossed by the faculty at the meeting but all the CP could say was that he didn't know. I'm sure there are some things he knows that he couldn't share with the rest of the campus and some things that upper management isn't sharing with CPs. He never gave a definitive answer regarding closure vs. teach out. He said that that's likely part of a contingency plan that upper management is working on but won't be shared until it is needed. I know that's not much and doesn't really offer security, even if it was the security of knowing that there would be no class on Monday... but that's all the information I got today!

Only about 5% of the information on here is useful so don't bother getting clear cut anything considering most people on here are assholes. Best of luck and yes, still plan on school next week until further notice.

OP: I'm sure you are really anxious! However, there is help out there for you. Do plan on attending school next week unless you hear otherwise. If there is a teach out, you will still have your teachers; it means they cannot enroll new students, and so your classes will get smaller and smaller, which could actually be beneficial for you. If the school closes, here are some resources for you, which you should look into even if the school doesn't close right now. You need to be proactive--it will allay some of your anxiety. Also, you might want to ask the teachers who know you well for letters of recommendation in the eventuality that you go to another college and need them.

I don't know which school you attend, but you can look up the info for your particular campus. There will be lawyers out there offering free advice.

Also, check

http://www.bppe.ca.gov/students/corinthian_colleges.shtml

https://oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/corinthian-colleges

and go to the CSAC facebook page to get information about Cal Grant if that affects you too.

Do not allow this mess to get in the way of your goal--which is to better yourself by getting an education. I know it seems like a weird thing to say, but this will teach you how to be resourceful, proactive and stay strong. And please ignore the mean comment of 140. My thoughts are with you and the students who stand to lose the most, but don't become a victim--stand up and carry on! From a former student and instructor whose life was changed by Heald.

Judging from his grammar, he might

be a student. C'mon now. Also, he has failed to do research about the school.

If you're a student, with three quarters left, you already know the quality of the teachers. Hence, I think you are not a student.
