Unless dysfunction and piss poor management are the norm I'm going to keep coming back F-you very much you pompous ass. The people running this place are tools and the guy they put in charge of the NYC office is an old school tool who has no clue on how to re-connect with the modern consumer.

The old school SVP of NYC who will remain nameless (but his name REALLY fits him) should be more worried about keeping his job than worrying about what websites his people are trolling. He is SVP on just Thomas. Oh wait, the Bob the Builder reboot is going to be awesome(ly terrible). I would be on Linkedin making my next move if I was him. With the prior NYC SVP going to ES to handle FP Friends licenses, she is coming for you like the Snickers that used to be in her candy jar. Although if it is any indication at how Mattel doesn't want to deal with senior people - it took them 3 years to sack that worthless SVP of HIT that drove the business into the ground. So maybe he has a few years...
I'll tell you what's normal at Mattel. If it doesn't make sense then it makes perfect sense at Mattel. Upper mismanagement is talentless/clueless especially Design wise so it's over. The talented Design people who I know are either actively looking for another job, some have too much time vested & are just holding on for dear life as they are older and don't want to deal with trying to get another job, & the talentless ones are the bootlickers who are in the club protected by moron mismanagement.
The no talent lazy designers just throw everything over to the Hong Kong office & take all the credit for the work the Orient does if it turns out great & will be the first to blame them if something goes wrong.
The best, most talented Designers I know either left on their own or were forced out because they voiced their opinion and were labeled "loose cannons with a bad attitude". I really feel sorry for some of the talented Designers who are still here.
Don't daydream any longer about leaving..don't hold your breath hoping that hinges will improve at Mattel, it simply won't. Bring the future to you; leap and the net will appear :)
I heard leadership was trolling the site to see who everyone is complaining about. Alan Kaye is probably using this site as a training tool for his incredibly talented HR team. If your boss things are back to normal he's a complete buffoon. I don't know one person who is not looking for a job and who hates coming to work everyday. Unfortunately. We will make Q1 and Sinclair and Dickson will look like heroes. They will expect all of us worker bees to kiss the ring and thank them. Alas I will continue to dream of the day I get to resign from this craziness.
Give my all to get the job done in a manner that makes me proud. I will just put forth the minimum to get by cause anymore just benefits those above. After seeing so many talented and "knowing" colleagues and friends let go for the sake of reduced expenses when all the non-producers stayed on has broken my spirit. Just doing the minimum until I can find somewhere else to take my talents and my passion. I have no problem in letting Mattel die. The BOD, senior mgmt and all their cronies allowed the plug to hit the floor a long time ago.... It's only the momentum that has kept it afloat to this point. If you feel the same way....reply with a "time for me to leave as well"
Was hoping they'd close the NyC office. Did they at least close the HiT one?
Your boss is a fool. The chaos hasn't even started yet.
Well, semi-annual layoffs are pretty normal for the Company.
Sit tight & wait for the earnings to be announced, so the next round of layoffs can be mulled and discussed. Then your boss in NYC (I have a pretty good feeling I know who) can wonder what "normal" means at Mattel.
