Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

An Open Letter to CCi

I have a large group of students who are willing to join me and move from Heald over to USC. We would all prefer to stay with Heald, but this depends on CCi getting a sale done quickly. Otherwise, there will be a bunch more trojans and less Healds.

Yes, there are many in power who want to crush dream colleges like Head or CCi College. These places are cheap relative to Harvard or Yale. And, they give a opportunity to people who don't have a bunch of rich parents. The elites don't like this. Marx fought the same battle. Read his stuff. I bet the Corinthians 15 is funded by those who want to break Heald and take away opportunity. Get the students to raise a stink so CCi college is shut down.

OP--if only your parents had used Trojans we wouldn't have to listen to you now.

893, please get your facts straight before commenting. Many people want to claim how students that default on their loans are a burden to the taxpayers. This is a false claim. As mentioned in previous posts, even if a student defaults on a Title IV loan, they still remain obligated to pay it and the government collects through all means necessary while adding on penalties and interest. So while the US Department of ED touts default rates and publishes statistics comparing different types of education entities, the reality is that eventually the loans get paid back and then some. In CCi's case, the high default rates that are being discussed in various articles related to their demise, are related primarily to the private loan program. That program is not funded by taxpayers dollars and therefore there is no liability to the taxpayers. The Title IV student loan programs are extremely profitable for the government, which is why they eliminated third party lenders in the first place. Being a direct lender provides even more profit for Uncle Sam. Don't believe me? Take your pick from the articles below. If we are going to criticize, and there are areas worth criticizing, let's at least be accurate in our criticism. There are many great for profit colleges out there that have made a significant positive influence in the lives of their students, graduates and communities they serve. Unfortunately, in today's society, it is the negative stories that gain traction and get wide exposure. Government is one of the biggest problems in education today. The unattended consequences of over regulation has been a significant cause to the rise in the cost of education in this country, but that is a topic for another day.

"...college is only for the wealthy." What a stupid point. You realize that Heald is ridiculously expensive, right? Granted, taxpayers will end up taking care of much of the cost after so many of the CCI loans go into default.

Here we go again. The elites of the silver spoon set seem to think that college is only for the wealthy. 150 years of leveling the playing field has proved them wrong.

Oh yeah? And just how are you going to get there? Or were you unaware of just how far USC actually is?

An open letter to OP:

Your credits will not transfer. Your ACT score (2) does not meet our mnimum standards. We do not offer enough remidial classes to address your 3rd grade reading level. Your admissions essay was a combination of cut and paste from the internet and otherwise unintelligble gibberish (we are unsure if you were attempting to use english or some bizzare ancient dialect). The check you attached to your application misspelled every word in the name of our university - including "of". The check bounced, and the police have asked that we provide any information regarding your whereabouts. Something to do with "active warrants".

Thank you for your interest in USC.

Regards - USC Admissions
