Could bring back 24 eager and highly productive people a year earning a reasonably good salary of 60k for that. OK so argue there are benefits, taxes, all that crap. Let's say 12 people, fine! If you were stuck on a sinking ship would you rather have one former CEO hired as a consultant or 12 really talented and innovative people? Hmm. It's an interesting question

Personally this is sick. Between his "consulting fee" Richard Dicksons ever-empty HTC Office, Richard and Tim's "promotions" and the new Sinclair interim CEO salary, you would of saved at least half the layoffs if not more. Personally, I'd of even accepted a pay-cut. But no, keep those that can't manage and get rid of those who can...

Do you think he's happy with that money, but not satisfied?

I don't think we'll see him around the office. Either he was working on something delicate they need him to finish off or they botched something last month that is being sweetened by this 'consulting...' Anyways, the timing of this is shocking with the first round of layoffs last week...

The unfolding of this continues to get even more absurd. It is like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Wow...but then I was laid off and told the company needed to scale back budget wise. His monthly salary would have paid 4 years of mine...great decision there!!

They layed off the people doing the work to pay for his consulting. The company is doomed. So sad.

Let's remember there a lot of lawsuits against Mattel right now and it helps to have him on the payroll. Just sayin'

Maybe this is the beginning of the return to sanity... they'll hire EVERYONE back at higher salaries!

That's a low salary for a CEO. How much was he making in bonuses and stock options?

I am available for 30% of that amount. I would do much better job than that orangutan with a golden smile

The only logical explanation for this news is that the WSJ must have caught wind of all you Mattel employees on this Thelayoff.com website and decided to have some fun trolling you.

Technically, that's under 60K a month after taxes, nothing spectacular. You'd be able to barely afford a 3 bedroom in Manhattan Beach on that kind of income...
