What's killing Mattel is your product. All you guys have done are packaging changes color changes and cost cutting. I see the same toys on the shelf from ten years ago. The only time is a good product come around is when Mattel buys a company then they claim the good products as there own. All the toys that have made toys of the year for Mattel have been bought. Check it out it's a fact. Innovation and creativity are words that mean nothing at Mattel. I wish they would have the guts to put out something good with out cutting out all the fun and creating just another piece of toy crap.

Good ideas to capture kids imagination are plentiful. These ideas are then subjected to margins and quotas and reduced to having the appeal slightly less than the box marketing chooses to package them in. We need toy guys in charge, not accountants
Mattel is turning toys into commodities. All products are design for manufacturing, not for the children. No one want to take risk to present innovative idea. Or, the idea will be killed by the internal processes or the nit-pick requirements.
For fisher-price the toy of the years are typically internal ideas but we haven't had one win for a while and weren't even nominated at all last year, which is rather telling. First time I remember that happening. We have such innovative talented staff but lack sr vision plus more and more being sent to China. Emphasis on cheap and fast.
