It is truly amazing a company like Mattel - who is last time I checked, still in the business of making... toys! - is run like a capital investment firm. Zero thought to what an actual child would like to play with and a parent who would consider buying it. NONE. It is ONLY about profit margin. And the dicks that lead the company from Director on up have either never learned this or were told to ignore it. AG improved year after year by double digits while Fisher-Price and Mattel bled the company dry and what does an intelligent company like Mattel do, handicap their best player. "Let's bench Michael Jordan because the rest of the team forgot how to dribble." mentality. And...When you give up making dolls for entertainment companies like Disney, you have to be the biggest idiot on the planet and no longer deserve to make toys for children. Count your money in hell you greedy charlatans.

Agree, sadly true except for the fact Mattel also brought FP down. Used to be a class act company also.
It's so true and yet sad that AG felt the hit. Mattel has made a ridiculous amount of poor investments over the years like the re-design of the FP core packaging (or the "duffy" look which they spent an incredible amount of money on) which was panned in focus groups and has yet to resonate at retail yet they still trudge along with that crap, never attempting to change their approach to the actual product they decided to put crap into a fancy box box hoping to fool the consumers (lipstick on a pig anyone?). PLM! who can say a good thing about PLM? what an abortion! Mega brands! The knock off of lego! Hit brands! They have one property and even that is lackluster and has a very definitive age cap. Wait until Disney's trains comes out and thomas looks even more vanilla and bland. One bad investment after another. I was hoping for the severance package yesterday but it seems like I'm going to have to start looking elsewhere for a job that doesn't crush my spirit as much.
So sadly true.
