Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

This is how Fisher Price Cuts You

They escort you out immediately and send your stuff to you later (HR goes through your stuff and decides if it is yours or the company's). And HR gets your coat. There will be security guards around, rest assured.

just make sure your bags are packed with essentials and if they ask you into a meeting take everything you own with you. DO NOT allow them access to your bags. That is an illegal search. let them call the cops. don’t go into meetings (unscheduled meetings) moving forward without your personal belongings. the fear is real.

My let go experience couple years ago was great! After receiving an amazing package from HR's office and my manager, I was allowed to stay, chat with co-workers, pack my stuff. I was given an option to work for additional week but I can leave anytime, I chose to leave at lunch time because I got paid anyways. I found a better paid job in 3 months but my Mattel paychecks didn't stop for another 5 months! Thank you Mattel!!

After I was let go this week - I felt the range of emotions that I'm sure everyone else in this position felt - humiliated, betrayed, criminalized, outcast, it goes on and on. It's like getting abandoned on a dark street corner by your parents - who one day prior, took you to the candy store and tucked you into bed, then take you to the car the next day and open up door and kick you out. It's absolutely devastating. As this situation passes, I realize now more and more just how TOXIC the environment was and coming to the conclusion that even If I don't find another job in the future - No matter what, I will find my dignity, my pride and my sense of self again. There is no way I would ever advise anyone to step into Mattel's pool. Those are some shark infested cesspool waters. Never again.

It's humiliating. I went through it years ago. After 25 years of service to be treated like a criminal is disgusting.

It's for legal reasons. Just like managers aren't allowed to act as positive references. It all stinks.

Nothing has changed from prior year layoffs. Those laid off are treated like criminals.

yes it is pretty savage to be sitting in the same room with your boss who is instructed to not say one comforting word to you except "....your job has been eliminated, this is your last day with Mattel..." The same boss who, for most of you, probably had conversations a day prior about "what are you doing this weekend? Did you see this new movie? blah, blah blah. Such phonies.

Amazing. Yesterday you were an asset to the organization making contribution to them. Today, some moron decides your fate and now you're a common criminal. Unbelievable . What a heartwarming organization. Just goes to show how little they care about the employees. Sorry anyone has to go through this horrific process.
