Is anyone surprised at how this turned out?

Mattel's answer will be once again to hire expensive consulting firms so they can tell the SVPs what to do. Need to cut the workers to pay for it.
Disappointed, but not surprised. CEO Sinclair obviously didn't have the cohones to make the truly difficult cuts, like the CFO and head of HR, or VPs and SVPs who stood watch while Barbie slumped three years in a row. Had those deep cuts been made, people would be a lot happier that this was a true restructuring. This is sounding more like a "cut by the numbers" game where people continue to fail upwards and be protected. If you were in charge of a business that declined 3 years in a row at any other company, your butt would be out the door. But at Mattel, they're given "new opportunities." Sets a poor example for those left.
In answer to the original question in the post.....ugh, nope, not surprised but very disappointed.
It's such utter BS. The fish rots from the HEAD, Mattel. It's infuriating to continue to watch incompetent people somehow fail up in that company.
I'm am truly sorry to those who lost their jobs today. Silver lining.... you're off the sinking ship.
The company is hosed. Period.
What?? Great, so nothing will change!!
The next CEO that comes in will have to gut virtually all upper level management to have any shot at a comeback.
Excessive greed is the dark side of capitalism. Will upper management of most all global companies ever learn that they can't continue to take out more than they contribute or more than they are worth. I wonder what position Mattel will wind up with on the "best companies to work for" list.
Whatever - I'm off this sinking ship now, feeling a freedom that I didn't think was possible.....!
