Experience Out the Door

Mattel just let all the 50+ year olds go who actually knew how to make toys. The bean counters only kept cheap junior level guys who know Photoshop. Don't expect any innovation from Mattel anymore, just disappointment in a box.

And no VPs cut yet. The good ole boys club!

They let go of some really great people today at all levels. Except VP's. It is so messed up. They let go of a few really hard working nice people in our department who probably weren't making that much. Can't see how that really helped anything.

Sorry that someone at the "bottom" got let go...my bet ..you pissed someone off-(they would never tell you to your face so they stabbed you in your back) OR you worked too hard and were a "threat" to your manager..

Mattel needs to FIRE all the Directors and VP's......

It's all about who you know, and what dirt you have on them. There were people today protected that made absolutely no sense.

I agree. I've seen the butt kissers kept and managers with almost no reports kept as well. Can't even fathom how that is justified. Make connections, kiss ass, do 1/3 the work and trash the FP leaders and decision makers in your one on ones with your reports- they'll keep you then! Those are, apparently, your best tools for sticking around. Be one of the good ole boys. I realize this doesn't apply to all the people let go, but many of the targets it does apply to.

That is not true. I was at the bottom in my group and I was let go. I put in more hours than others and they make a lot more than I do. For some its all about who you know and they will protect you.
